Exactly.

Easy cap situations are for rebuilding squads. Teams that are trying to win are CONSTANTLY fighting the push/pull of the cap. And you can tapdance around that for 3-4 years before you really start to create problems for yourself.

The alternative is to find yourself in the situation the Titans, Dolphins, Bucs and Lions find themselves in, where you have cap space but nobody worth spending it on.

I'll take where we are over anyone in football right now. Our problem isn't figuring out whether or not we need to continue paying an overrated game manager like David Carr $25 million. We have to figure out how to pay 3 of the most dynamic players in the game, including the single most sought after asset in organized sports (seriously, is there any player in any sport with more trade value than Patrick Mahomes right now?).

I can live with that.

Yep, it makes sense. You know the same old idiots will be firing up their hit pieces and slamming the Chiefs for rewarding this "Child Abuser".

We will see headlines like this: Tyreek breaks his kid's arm then breaks the Chief's bank account!
or
Hill abuses son and baby momma and then gets rewarded for abusing Cornerbacks!

The tears will be flowing.

Give Tyreek this deal now. This is a really good structure.

No elite cap hit until 2022. Only 1 season of a $20 million cap hit

I agree. If there was no BS this offseason I'm sure it wouldn't be possible, but I think that is exactly how it needs to be done.

There are few ways you can help a QB more in the league these days than a security blanket pass-catcher. Ideally it's a TE but Thomas is just so steady and capable of finding holes in defenses that he'll be just as important but even more dangerous.

Absent injury, they'll be happy they got this extension done.
Yes. But the cap will also be 30million more then with Brees money also available. Hell the saints were already looking for a replacement for Brees. When Brees retires, that contract will be standard for wr in free agent per year.

Plays with a HOF QB in a dome for like 10 games every season. I probably wouldn't put him in my top 5 just yet but he's a great route runner, has great size and even better hands.

Hopkins
Hill
Julio
OBJ

Yeah I have those players definitely above him. But he's not far behind.

Right. I'd probably take Mike Evans over him as well.

I'd consider taking Juju and Devante Adams over Thomas but I don't think you'd go wrong either way.

I'd say AJ Green and Keenan Allen are probably comparable as well but just injured far too often to even consider.

Honestly, I think Kamara is the truly special player on that squad. I know the positional value isn't there but he's just ****ing incredible. Reminds me of a bigger but slower Jamaal.

I wonder if they'll pay him.. they'll probably have to assuming Brees retires soon.

It would take a whole hell of a lot of creativity to make it work signing Jones and Clark.

We wouldn’t be able to sign really anyone. We’d be exclusively relying on the draft, smaller deal players like Damien Wilson and trades for guys like Ogbah, Lee, etc.

Or he could take the Ballard road and trade them, Laos up on picks and have money to spare.

It will be interesting to see path Veach goes down.
