I know I'm kind of a homer, but I felt the refs were letting them play way more than they should have in the first half - which benefits Baylor way more than KU.

And the free-throw disparity? They're not a team that slashes to the bucket like our guards/forwards do....

Excerpt:

Oh, I don't know, maybe because they shot 27 free throws and we shot six? Because Kansas was called for 10 fouls in 67 possessions in a close game, and we were called for 21? Because it's hard to play five on eight?

http://www.espn.com/blog/collegebask...kansas-through
They called a lot of fouls on rebounds. And frankly I wasn't watching close enough to see if the KU guy had position or whether they were crap fouls, but you can expect some of that when Baylor has THAT much more length than us, if we execute and get position.

There was a missed call on Jackson at the end, in that shit ass slop heap possession. They also missed a call on him early.

The only other thing that stands out is that Lindsay fool fouling out with 8 minutes left (WTF Drew? The only other moron I've ever seen do that is Martinstien with Denis Clemente), but I wasn't paying enough attention to know if he was getting hosed or not. Nobody else was in serious foul trouble that I can remember.

And it's not like we were exempted. Lucas had to sit a good long time in both halves because of foul trouble and at least one of the ones on Montley was pretty weak.

They committed a lot of fouls on Jackson away from the ball. Vitale commented one time that it was smart because Jackson is shit from the line. Vitale is an idiot, because when the ****stick executed the tackle, there was no way to know if Mason was running free (he wasn't) to know if it was a good play or not. But they did it several times. I don't know if they were legit fouls or not. They were off camera and weren't replayed. Maybe they were and they were trying to get Jackson to lose his cool, IDK.

But yeah, the crux of the issue is our guys were driving and theirs were spotting up. And towards the end, they would shoot a bad shot, get the board, rinse and repeat until we fouled them. So the fouls they got weren't because they were making us defend space.

It may very well have been home cooking but it didn't feel like it.

Any opposing fan would insinuate that, including us. Baylor, in theory, is a big post team so they should command multiple defenders and fouls. The fact that they totally did not try to get Motley involved more in the 2nd half is part of it though, and mind boggling. He was destroying us in the 1st half. Maybe the zone had alot to do with that.

It's their MO. They did the same shit against KSU. They won that game, but they completely went away from the inside game, which defensively looks a lot like ours, except DJ Johnson is more prone to foul trouble against that kind of length. Nope. Not Baylor. We'll show them by jacking a bunch of 3s.

Eh, the article makes that statement but it's not terribly slanted imo.

I think some of you guus are being a little tough on lucas. He's not great by any means, but he was pretty fantastic last night at the normal things he's fantastic at.

Guarded, rebounded etc.

Yep.

I do think Lightfoot is getting better, but he's just not ready. Azibuke going down really sucked, plus the whole Bragg shit hapoening.

Any news on what's going on with him?

I had to sit in the row because some asshats must have jammed themselves in the wrong row, but that was an great game to attend. As loud as I can remember a game being. ESPECIALLY a weekday game. Way to show up Jayhawk Nation.

Azibuke wrist cost us for sure. We would be a lot stronger team. Our inside game is very woeful at times.

Is everyone ready to toss aside the dogma of tourney play that guard play is the key to success? We got boatloads of that. Josh is turning it up a notch. If he had played like he has these last two games, he'd be the consensus player of the year.

One bad night in the tourney and your out. But, I like our chances.
