Plumbing Question
Recently, of a sudden, when I turn the hot water on in my bathroom sink, it makes a loud vibrating noise in the pipes.
Anyone know why this is and is there an easy fix? |

I had that happen once in my house and a plumber told me it was probably a loose or deteriorated rubber valve seat. I just replaced the entire faucet.

Is that when the noise started? If so, it could be the hot side shut off valve under the sink. The washers in them can break loose and vibrate. Provided the valve is not soldered on, it should be fairly simple to replace |

Air in the hot water line. It's called "water hammer."

Water hammer only causes noise at the moment the water is shut off. It sounds like Milkman's problem is just generic vibrating pipes that happens whenever he turns on the hot water lines.
This link will show you what to look for and how to fix it. You can focus on the hot water line if you can identify those. http://home.howstuffworks.com/home-i...fix-pipes4.htm |

You'll want to drain your hot side copper pipes. Turn off water. Open lowest hot water valve in house. Then open upper-most hot water valve.
