No one on the team seemed offended when they spent the farm to bring in Shields (all the while paying him the highest salary on the team).

All the players you mentioned are here until 2018. With that window, the time to take a chance on a big time FA is now.

Stay healthy and play well you'll get paid by someone someday. No reason to get butt hurt over who is making more than who.

I dont think this is the case, but admittedly, it is possible there is some truth to this. If true, it could affect the payroll in a big way the next few years!

Glass MAY be willing to take a loss for a couple years on the payroll in the hopes that 4 years from now the Royals are still competitive and near the top of the AL, which would allow them to negotiate a mega-TV deal going forward from 2020, that potentially could allow their payroll to hover around $130-140 million a year, w/o taking a loss, due to the revenues created by the new TV deal.

But, again, I won't believe it till I see it. Here's to dreamin' . . . . .

If the Royals are going to lay out big money on a contract, Tomas could be the perfect guy for several reasons:

1. We need a right fielder.
2. We need more power.
3. Tomas could be a part of the DH rotation and play Dyson in CF/Cain in RF at times.
4. Tomas could be a marketable star, something we don't currently have.
5. Because GMDM wants to take out his huge dick and swing it around in Cuba.

No, they're not. But ad revenues DO affect television deals and more entities are willing to commit to spending advertising dollars to something if they know it will be successful and lots of people are watching it.
