More 'Orioles Hangout' goodness
http://forum.orioleshangout.com/foru...-Hurts-So-Much
Why This Loss Hurts So Much I completely disagree with those who say we had more talent than the Royals. In fact, I think we had the least amount of talent starting the playoffs than any other team in the AL. We had an offense missing 3 starters. There isn't another team in the AL that could have done more under these conditions. The reason it hurts so bad is that we lucked into the best matchup possible and our magic ran out. I was hoping beyond hope for more magic but was cognizant of the fact that our offense wasn't going to be able to score in Detroit, Oakland or Kansas City. We need more speed. We need more obp. We need more consistency. The most painful thing about this is that our luck got transferred to a team that wasn't much better than us. Make no mistake, had we gotten their luck, we could have won. The answer is to get better because next year, we may find ourselves facing a team with a 200-250 million cap in the playoffs. KC didn't swing for the hills. WE did... every. Single. Time. It was like clockwork. Yost did the same thing pretty much every game. Grind out a couple of runs, swap in a few pinch runners in late innings and manage the bullpen properly. And now they're going to the WS and we aren't. MSK We had plenty of opportunities, especially with bases loaded, to counteract the luck the classless royals displayed. For some reason following the first game loss we seemed to choke and lose belief in ourselves - which is maddening because that belief has won us so many games this year. It is a shame we didn't get the Angels as I think they were a better matchup for us and think we would be WS bound right now, but it wasn't to be. I don't think the royals luck can continue, and think - and hope - it will be a procession for the NL winners. Just gutted really. Such an immense opportunity now gone. And to think a few weeks ago many were talking up a possible beltway WS, and I was certain we would be there with or without the Nats. Oh, and on another note - if the Os had reached the WS I would have won ?500 and if they won that, it would be ?2000 - so extra gutted to get this close and throw it away |

I wonder at what point at what game that pic was taken. For all we know that's a stain from someone's Pepsi when Moose made that diving catch into the dugout seats.

I say photo shopped on that. You get a lot of shots of the back of Moose's cap during games after a putout and he turns around. It's never looked like that.

I love how they call the celebrations of a young team having fun "classless". I guess they should have acted like Derek Jeter when the Yankees win a Wednesday game in April. Also I love how they think we won because of luck when
1. They, who led the league in HRs hit two the whole series and 2. They got 3 hit by Jeremy Guthrie and 2 hit by Jason Vargas. Their offense and their "vaunted bullpen" faild them. Luck had nothing to do with it. |

Holy shit. The Royals swept because Moose's hat had skeet on it.
