Allen and Stephenson started on an OL that did well in the 2nd half of 2013.
Surely one of these assholes is at least decent this year

People are obsessed with "fixing" the OL this year. It's not just good enough for them to see a decent improvement. Guess what? You can't ever count on "fixing" the OL through the draft. OL may be one of the easiest positions to find talent in any draft, but it still takes time to develop. Very few offensive line guys drafted each year are instantly good, solid cornerstones. It takes time to develop that. Who ****ing cares that it's unknowable how well Fanaika and Fulton will do? They've got NFL experience, and in the interest of seeing the OL "fixed", that experience goes waaaay farther than anything we could get out of some rookie we draft, and I don't care which round it happens in. More than likely, the rookie will go into next year as one of those "unknowns" that people claim we have to draft talent for as insurance that the player won't be terrible. How about we just take a step back, make a final evaluation on all the OL guys we HAVE drafted recently, and ****ing wait? We already plugged our biggest hole with Grubbs and now have competition to push Fulton at RG. Jesus ****, people. We're going to be fine. I'm not going to get pissed off if we take offensive line this draft since we have so many picks, but this is far from a team need at this point. |

The Grubbs over McGlynn improvement ALONE will elevate this line 5-10 spots in the rankings for total sacks given up. We can likely expect improved play from LT and RG as well. And there is a lot of competition for RT both on the team and what we could draft this year. We can expect a better player at RT as well.
Four positions improved with one (C) likely being a downgrade, but one of those improved positions was booting out the worst player in the league and replacing him with a sturdy, experienced, and pretty damn good vet player. How can you people still be up in arms about the OL? For ****'s sake. |

I still am convinced that Smith is only aggressive if he doesn't trust his defense. Which sucks, because it would be nice if the Chiefs pathetic history to have a good offense and defense at the same time. Of course the OL can get better, but it is more than good enough for us to have a strong offense. The wild card continues to be which Alex Smith we will see. Nervous that smith's long history hints which one. |

Improved wr play will go a long ways in improving the ol.
Also, some of the ol problems can be put on the qb too. |

Gotta spot the hot route. Has to be less afraid to throw to that primary option even if he's covered. Throw the wr open instead of waiting for him to open up. Aggressive Alex Smith was better at doing that. Protect the game Alex Smith does not.

Even if Kush is only meh, as long as he avoids being a flaming abortion, we're going to be fine. I actually expect him to struggle a bit initially since all we've ever seen from him is preseason play and one regular season game. But he'll figure stuff out. Just getting a few games under one's belt as the starter often goes a long way in smoothing out those rough edges from a first year starter. |

Physically, he looks the part. His measurables all suggest that he's capable of being an outstanding C. He's athletic, he's strong - he's a nice prospect. But C has so much of a mental component to it. It's why I don't really think Erving's a good idea. There's absolutely no way he'll be able to step in and be a plus starter at C as a rookie - if Erving's starting, we're likely very very ****ed. There are too many calls, pickups, etc... that need be made there. And with the snap in his mind as well....ugh, it'll be a mess. Kush, OTOH, knows this offense now. He's been in camp, been in practices. He should be light years ahead of a guy like Erving mentally and physically I just don't see what makes Erving a better C prospect than Kush, especially for this season. So let's use that #1 on a player that makes us better elsewhere. We're taking a step down at C this year - full stop. Accept that and move on. Taking a step down at C won't by why this team fails. My preference has moved over to CB at this point. If I hadn't seen so many talented CBs 'lazy' their way right out of the league, I'd love Peters at that spot. But when was the last 'headcase' CB that actually amounted to anything? Those guys need to have pretty good heads on their shoulders. I'm probably leaning towards Kevin Johnson and if not him, probably Collins.

I would like to draft an OT in the mid rounds in the case that Stephenson and Allen are gone next year.
But with Andy it's always a strong bet that some sort of fatty, OL or DL, is in play in the first rd.

With situations like Peters, I just defer to this front office. If they think it's worth the risk and can handle him, I'm fine. Conversely if not, pass.
But damn, getting a player of that caliber at 18 seems like something the great teams in the league have done over time |

More worried about find a slot cornerback and fixing the run D
we had the worst nickel corner in the NFL last season and our run D effectively let Oakland beat us knocking us out of the playoffs |

DJLN is right, there isn't a single center prospect with much hope of coming in and playing better than Kush out of the gate... he has some seasoning now and is yoked.
Anyone drafted for center needs to be a developmental guy, not a top 5 rounder... its Kush or Wisnewski or bust. |

How is that working anyone over hard? Do you think Wiz is better than Hudson? They can afford to overpay.
