Definitely a disappointing bowl season for the SEC. 5-5 now overall, which is most certainly subpar for them. First time in 9 years they won't be playing for a National Title.

Oh, well. Could be worse. At least they're not the Big 12.
(1-4 in bowls, including all time epic choke job by Baylor)

I guess that "Big X should have gotten a playoff team / Ohio State didn't deserve to be there" argument collapsed on itself last night, so we have to move on to "Haha! A team from the SEC isn't going to win the title THIS year!"

Did you only watch the elite 8 in basketball, too? If so, you haven't seen a Big 12 team play basketball nor football all year.

What we learned yesterday;

1) The committee got it right. While TCU had no argument to be in the playoff, unless two Big ? teams were included, Baylor may have. They lost that argument yesterday, as Ohio State won, and they had already lost.
2) All those who are bemoaning folks who "root for a conference" and claiming to be above it are lying. Across the nation, as well as in this thread, those very people give themselves away by cheering the Alabama loss, or for the TCU win. Let's face it, a good conference helps all teams. While I want my to to win, it also benefits the program I root for when other teams in the conference my team is in are successful. It was this way when my team was in the Big 8, the Big XII, and now the SEC.
3) the SEC is still probably the best conference, but regardless, they are still the conference to beat. Look at all the crowing about the SEC after Alabama's loss. There's a reason for that. You celebrate when you beat the king of the hill. You don't tear down the goalposts for beating a nobody (well... sorry kansas), and the reveling this morning is the rest of college football being excited for beating one of the tops of the best conference in the country. It makes the sport great!

We learned yesterday that my argument TCU should be in over FSU was, like usual, 110% spot on. No team ranked 15-20 in all the computer models should ever have gotten in but there they were. Getting humiliated.

We have a long way to go in sports, where win-loss records still fool dumb fans. The fact the committee is neither transparent with their criteria nor accountable leads to laughably dumb selections.

That much is obvious. TCU couldn't beat Baylor. Baylor couldn't beat Michigan State. Ohio State beat Alabama. The committee got it 100% right.

It couldn't have worked out much better for the committee.

SO until another conference makes nine title games in a row they still look up at the sec. Now the results of the final four do put the Big Ten and PAC firmly in front of the Big Bambi Conference.

TCU got ****ed by the refs in the Baylor game. Even the national media noticed the home cooking in that game.

TCU stomped the shit out of a team that beat Bama already this year.

TCU should have been in the playoff. They would have beaten any of those teams with how they played against Ole Miss.

Get back to slurping on your conference's past successes and feeling good about beating Minnesota.

The committee was not 100% right.

They put 4 conference champions into the playoff. Plain and simple reasoning.
