Per 810: Chiefs tried to trade back up into 1st round

And they are looking to move up in the 2nd.

They think Dalvin Cook is the target.

As an FSU fan who watched nearly every game of Dalvin Cook's career, I cannot believe there are fellow Chiefs fans who think there are better options available. First, as a Chiefs fan, it's painfully obvious that our offense is too limited to win in the playoffs. When we finally got a defense that could win in the playoffs, we lost our star RB to injury not once, not twice, but thrice! Net result was 0-3 in the games against Indy, NE, and Pittsburgh which were all winnable games.

As for Cook, he's the best running back in FSU history and that includes Warrick Dunn. He came to FSU as a freshman and won the job over senior Karlos Williams (who went on to score 7 TD's as a rookie) midway through the season. His predecessor at the position was Devonta Freeman was is a elusive and tough runner but not in the same class as Cook who is an absolute gamebreaker. There are a few RB's who take your breath away because they can flip a game in an instant and he is one of them. He decimated excellent Clemson and Florida defenses loaded with NFL talent the last two years and did the same to Michigan in the Orange Bowl. I know this is a Big 12 board, but the defenses Cook faced were better than the ones Mixon did and he shined against them even brighter. He's a fierce competitor and beloved in the locker room. Whoever gets this kid is getting a future Pro Bowler and possibly the next Jamaal Charles. I hope it's us.

They could draft 8 long snappers and I'd be fine at this point

Yep, agreed on all counts. Welcome to the board (from a Gator fan).

Yep, Ware is a quality #2 back but can't seem to carry the load himself.

We need a good #1 RB to offset our offensive deficiencies.

I think Cook's issue is simply he's been known to long. Lots of times when prospects have been on the scene for 3 years people forget everything they do well and just focus on what they do poorly. And begin to nit pick little things that really shouldn't even be nitpicked.

Cook has run away from far to many guys that are being drafted for anyone to think he's slow or lacks burst. You don't start as a true freshman at that spot at that school without being a freak.

Simply put Cook would add another weapon to the Chiefs offense, one that would still be here when Mahomes took over. But that likely won't happen without a trade, the guys to talented.

The biggest thing is when you have a passing game that doesn't get big chunks you better have a homerun hitter at RB to make up for it.

Green Bay won't do it, they're actually trying to drum up that they like Kizer right now probably trying to bait a trade.

They've been so averse to drafting RB's it's just weird, they seem to always take linemen.

The load? what load? what are the carries per game for KC? average of maybe 20 total?

Those 20 carries and 5-7 touches in the pass game need to net more than 70-80 yards with Alex Smith under center.
