KU police investigating alleged rape of 16-year-old girl at basketball players’ dorm
LAWRENCE
University of Kansas police have been investigating the reported rape of a 16-year-old girl at McCarthy Hall, which houses the KU men’s basketball team and other male students.

The alleged rape and three other crimes occurred between 10 p.m. Dec. 17 and 5 a.m. Dec. 18, according to a police report obtained by The Star on Wednesday.

According to the report, the suspect is also accused of contributing to a child’s misconduct, furnishing alcohol to a minor and possession of drug paraphernalia. An investigation remains open.

The five persons listed as witnesses in the police report are members of the Jayhawks’ basketball team: Frank Mason III, Mitch Lightfoot, Lagerald Vick, Tucker Vang and Josh Jackson.

It is completely ridiculous that this is just now getting reported on over a month after it happened. If a rape were to have occurred in any other dorm then that the entire campus would have been alerted and the suspect would have been charged and probably expelled from the school in December. Considering that five players are on record as witnesses, it probably isn't one of those "transfer" students living in McCarthy. I don't give a **** who did it (if they did it), they should be kicked off of the team, expelled, never to set foot on this campus again.

I hope that the victim gets justice and gets the care she needs.
