HICKORY — A warrant is out for the arrest of an ax-wielding clown after an alleged assault attempt Friday, officials said.
The suspect is Jimmy Daniel Raybon and he has an outstanding warrant for the charge of assault with a deadly weapon, Hickory Police Department spokeswoman Chrystal Dieter said.
Police responded to a residence in the 1300 block of 20th Avenue NE in Hickory at 4:32 a.m. Friday after receiving a call about a clown with an ax, Dieter said.
When police arrived on the scene, the victim said the suspect came by her residence wearing a clown mask and a multicolored wig.
The suspect then began swinging an ax and attempted to cut the victim, Dieter said.
The victim told police that she was able to remove the clown’s mask and discovered that it was an acquaintance of hers. The suspect then left the victim’s residence, Dieter said.
The victim was not injured during the incident.
After talking with police, the victim went to a magistrate and took out charges against the suspect, Dieter said.

If you attack someone with an axe while you're wearing a clown costume, and they both escape injury and are able to de-mask you, you might as well just give up.
