Here’s a challenge for you:

Name one aspect of football that the NFL has tried to regulate recently that has made the game better to watch.

Catch rule?
Tackling?
Kickoffs?
Pass interference?

The only real improvement I can think of is OT. I like that a field goal on the opening possession doesn’t automatically end the game.

The problem is that the ref didn't even use the new rule. He just called it straight roughing the passer.

You leave your feet on nearly every single tackle. Especially form tackles. You're taught from day one to "engage" or "Roll" your hips. This pulls the opponent off of their feet and momentum eventually causes you to leave your feet.

In the NFL, the ball comes out so fast that you either dive to engage the passer before the ball leaves, or you don't make the sack. That's not a compromise pass rushers should be asked to make. Either outlaw sacks altogether, or this should be completely legal.

To be fair to the refs only a select few would have made that horrible call. Lucky for us we had the one guy old and senile enough that he was going to retire. But hey, why not give a guy a gift and let him ref a game. It's not like anybody could be affected by his poor skills.
