Thin strips of raw fish without the rice...

When you eat a piece of Sushi if it's a ball of rice with a piece of whatever on top its called Nigiri.. The proper way to eat it is to take your chop sticks and pull the meat off of the rice ball, put your fish in the wasabi/soy then place it back on the rice ball and eat... Never dunk your rice ball in the soy/wasabi ..

Damn, thanks for the heads up, but that makes sense. You'd have a soy dish full of rice after one dip.

It's actually etiquette but it is also not considered bad manners to pick it up and eat it with your fingers... Lots of people do that

Before I moved, I used to go to my favorite restaurant and order one of the variety sushi specials, and then order my regular meal. I'd eat the sushi for the meal and take home the ordered entree for a next day re-heat.

It was so awesome dude. I had it at a Sushi restaurant in the Bay Area.

It's been my favorite ever since.

It's still considered sushi though.
