The tenure of Chiefs running backs.

It's uncommon to have a long running back career with the Chiefs, particularly if you're a halfback.

The 25 running backs with the most games played as a Chief are as follows, in descending order of games played.

Six games into this season, Jamaal will have the longest career of a Chiefs halfback ever. Does that surprise anyone else?

163 Tony Richardson 1995 2005
123 Kimble Anders 1992 2000
100 Ed Podolak 1970 1977
95 Jamaal Charles 2008 2014
93 Curtis McClinton 1962 1968
93 Wendell Hayes 1968 1974
90 Todd McNair 1989 1996
87 Herman Heard 1984 1989
86 Donnell Bennett 1994 2000
79 Christian Okoye 1987 1992
77 Marcus Allen 1993 1997
75 Larry Johnson 2003 2009
70 Abner Haynes 1960 1964
68 Bert Coan 1963 1968
65 Priest Holmes 2001 2007
65 Ted McKnight 1977 1981
63 Greg Hill 1994 1997
58 Mike Garrett 1966 1970
58 Dexter McCluster 2010 2013
57 Billy Jackson 1981 1984
56 Tony Reed 1977 1980
56 Mike Cloud 1999 2002
54 James Saxon 1988 1991
52 Arnold Morgado 1977 1980
51 Jack Spikes 1960 1964

Footnotes and References:

The years is actually the first and last year in which they had a carry, so a running back may have been on the roster longer if he didn't get a carry at the beginning or end of his career.

I eliminated Vanover, Dante Hall, and Jerrell Wilson from this list since they weren't running backs for most of their career. I kept McCluster in because I think he was more RB than WR.

The 'games played' measure does penalize players who were in a 14-game season, so Podolak in particular is still the longest-tenured halfback in terms of years of service.

Wow that's pretty interesting. Like chefsos said, they might not last long, but we have gotten GREAT production out of our running backs.
