I am not overweight, but I do know a bit about low carb diets. Before this cancer crap, my blood sugar was up and my primary doc was concerned about diabetes, so I dropped my carb intake and I lost weight in a hurry. Cutting out bread and pasta was rough, but I modified my chicken parm by omitting the bread crumb crust on the chicken and having about 1/4 the amount of pasta. I used more pasta sauce and it was still very tasty.
Good luck with your diet and good health to you. Trust me, good health is worth more than just about anything else in life. |

The hardest thing is giving up the starches (corn, potatoes, wheat, rice, etc) ground or milled flax meal I have found is the best taste neutral once it is cooked. Raw it is nutty and oaty. Almond meal and coconut flour are more expensive and taste like almond and coconut of course.
Sweet things can easily be replaced by Splenda/Stevia/Truvia. Be very careful with any sugar free candies. They use sugar alcohols that can really do a number on your digestive tract. Some people handle them better than others. |

I'm hoping with this diet I can eventually get off of my high blood pressure med, my cholesterol med, and my GIRD med. I used to be skinny as a rail, like too skinny. Now I am a fatass and it is really starting to have a cascading downward spiral in terms of my health.
While reviewing my labs, my Dr. basically said this, this, this, and this are due to carbs. He said to keep exercising, but with my current diet, no amount of exercising will make the weight come off. Of course, he also said that there is a huge profit motive/conspiracy by Big Food and Big Pharma to keep poisoning people.... Oddly, my cardiologist said something similar. We'll see. I really hope it works. |

I went back on keto this past Sunday. I have had great luck with it. I lost 60 pounds on it last year. It's the only diet that's ever really worked for me.

It needs to be a lifestyle change.
You can diet to lose weight but you'll likely just end up gaining the weight back in the future. |

Losing weight is 80 percent diet.

You need to learn portion control. Eat to live, don't live to eat. And stop eating out so ****ing much, and drinking calories. Dumb.

Yeah, the major hurdle is the mental challenge... recognizing and accepting early all those wonderful foods that you love to eat, but need to remove (for the most part) from your diet. Game day watching parties, etc... those are tough and friends that aren't on the diet, they'll lure you to the dark side.
You can give yourself reward splurges now and then, but depending on the types of 'comfort foods' you love and the portions you intake ... that's the big mental/emotional aspect of it and that is where many lose the battle. Exercising, even modestly is just about creating the habit of doing it... you can get there rather easily.

Don't forget exercise. I've found that I eat less when I maintain a steady exercise program.
