Rivers on his way out of SD?

UTKevinAcee @UTKevinAcee · 5h 5 hours ago

Basic column where Philip Rivers says he expects to play out contract & Tom Telesco declines to say he won't trade QB http://www.utsandiego.com/news/2015/...chargers-acee/

I don't really give a shit about his family man status; but he does seem like a total whiny pussy on the field. A temper tantrum throwing pussy. He's a full grown toddler.

All that being said, yes, I'd take him on our team if it was feasible. He'd be an upgrade at the QB position. That much I truly believe.

Alex Smith has taken a team as far in the playoffs as Philip Rivers has.

Oh noes.........we're heading towards another Alex sucks thread! Let's see if I can avoid this shrewd ploy. No, I'm saying Rivers wouldn't last long enough to throw said checkdowns. Whew, that was close.

Rivers gets banged up a lot. He's always injured....last season he battling rib/back injuries. The dude has a ton of heart though and outstanding values.

It seems like he's a San Diegan more than a Charger. I don't think he goes to another team. I think he retires at the end of the year if the Chargers move to L.A.

They need to get the city of San Diego to raise $700 million in taxes to help pay for it. To get that they have to get a 2/3rds approval by the voters. That's not going to happen.

In short. Bye Bye Chargers.
Simple solution: The Spanos Family sells 49% of their ownership, which should be $1 billion at minimum. The Spanos family then invests $375 million, with the co-owner investing $375 million with the NFL loaning them the other $250 million.

Problem solved.

PS - Mark Davis should do this as well.

This talk of moving to Los Angeles for any team is a pipedream at this point because there is no stadium.

The USC campus is about to undergo a $1 billion dollar renovation and neither they or the city want an NFL team in the Coliseum. The citizens of Pasadena do not want an NFL game at the Rose Bowl ten times a year. Kroenke's project will take years and there is already opposition to building a stadium on his recently purchased property.

I just can't see it happening anytime soon.

The Chargers ARE the Spanos family. All of their worth is tied to the Chargers. They'd be silly to sell any part of their team.

Hell, if they were going to do that, they woulda done it year ago and sold it to AEG and play at Farmers Field.

It won't happen.

Oh, I know it won't happen but it's ridiculous for them to expect a city and state to build them a $1 billion dollar stadium.

This isn't true. They had one of the members of the Mayor's "task force" on the radio the other day explaining that any plan put forth won't require a two thirds vote.

They already know they won't get a 2/3's vote and are developing financing plans that won't require a vote.

The way they've been talking recently, it may not be a 1billion dollar stadium.

The City seems to have something up their sleeve. They've already acknowledged that they won't be getting a 2/3rds vote for tax payer money and have claimed that they've found alternative ways to finance a stadium, part of that may include a 1billion dollar Bridge loan from the county that would be paid back via the taxes from the new developments around the stadium.
