Football on ice!

It is going to be cold in Minneapolis for the playoff game.

This will not be as cold as the Polar Vortex that we had two years ago.
I had -45 wind chill, -32 actual temperature.
There is a thread around here somewhere.

The NWS forecast:

Saturday Night

Partly cloudy, with a low around -8. Wind chill values as low as -23. Northwest wind 5 to 15 mph.
Sunday

Sunny and cold, with a high near 3. Northwest wind 5 to 10 mph.

This will be one of the coldest games in NFL history. They are asking fans to take precautions to prepare for the cold. If it is this cold, it could be anyone's game.

http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/14...ally-cold-game

http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/14...conditions-nfl

question-If it was THAT cold -45. Would the NFL cancel/postpone/move the game in the name of saftey of players and fans.

My weather site.

I was at this night game. Temperature was in the teens and the wind was howling with gusts up to 30-40 MPH late in that game and was snowing pretty heavily. Field was completely cleared and it hadn't snowed yet during the first quarter. EPIC.

Lew, I remember watching that game.

This cold snap is the first one of the winter. So they are warning people about it. Its not even close to the normal cold that we can get or the length of time it can happen. We get used to the cold. It doesn't take long.

Go El Nino!

Nice!

Yea, that was a hell of a game. Lew might have had a pretty warm beer blanket going for that game.

And El Nino just brought 6 days a rain to Phoenix. She's doing all right by me.

If I had a book around here I would bet a nice amount on Minnesota.

Seattle is being picked as the overwhelming favorite, so do the opposite.

Minn was without 4 starting defenders.
This time Seattle is without Lynch and 2 starting tight ends.
All the luck Seattle had at home against San Fran the last 2 years is gone

It's so cold that even the men will have to squat to pee.

An earlier post asked if the sun would make a difference. Here are a few of my graphs to show the differences.

If you want more info http://weather.rms.rdale.org

Temperature, humidity, sun, wind=perceived temperature on skin
