Fun game. Crowd was great. No long balls from Santana, who threw a gem today.

The really cool thing is-

the back half of our rotation is pretty damned good. Our #3, 4, 5 guys are looking like plus guys at their spot. Meaning that Guthrie is projects to be a real damned good #3, probably better than yours. Ditto for Davis and Mendoza.

We look like a club that can pick up a lot of wins in that back half of the rotation. Shields looks like a mid level #1 and Santana's spotty but will probably be a low to mid level #2.

And based on past performance, god help you if our bullpen stays rested.

It's early, of course. You don't really have to skew the numbers much to be real optimistic, though. If they all do what they've shown they're capable of, we're in real good shape.

I said it before and I'll say it again-there's no good way to measure just how much damage the lousy starting pitching did to this club last year-in bullpen overusage, in pressuring the young hitters...man, what a difference.

People are forgetting that this team needs to score runs.

They need the long ball. It's time for Hosmer, Moustakas and Gordon to all break the 25 HR mark, and Butler needs 30+. 35 more between Cain and Perez also needs to happen.

That's 140 HR's between just those players. The you probably have another 20 or so split up between Escobar, Frenchy, Tejada, Dyson, Getz, and other backups etc. That puts the team around 160 mark which puts the Royals right in the middle of the pack (15 range) in terms of HR's. That's not too much to ask IMO considering the hype these ****ers had coming into the league. They're not rookies anymore, it's time to produce at the plate.....now. No more of this "need to find my place" type of shit, it's time to let their instincts kick in and knock the crap out of the ball.

I mean this is a team that hasn't put up a 30HR guy since Dye in 2000...Beltran did in 2004 but he finished the season w/ Houston. This is the big leagues....you hit the long ball. Small ball is for HS.
