I literally just stopped in Nashville last Thursday to check out the city on my way to Scottsdale and today I checked in with my sister in NJ and told her she should take a trip there with her husband.

I am not a country music fan but I was really impressed with the city, the cool architecture, and the size. I imagined something very different. Cool city you should have a great time.

I am not even close to a country music fan... but I did a weekend in Nashville about a year ago. I had a freaking blast. The bar district is top notch. Went to the grand ol opry Friday night show with a backstage tour after. Went to the Ryman theater Saturday night for a Jenny Lewis concert. Tootsies is a must for a few drinks. Extremely fun town.

Been a few years since I've been there. I sat in on a recording session at Hummingbird Studios on Music Row with my pal Marc from St. Louis.

Here's what I remember:

Ryman Auditorium: Looks like an old downtown church. It's the church of country music, home of the original Grand Ole Opry.

Pancake pantry... I went their and had the best F'n pancakes I've ever had. I waited over an hour and it was totally worth it.

Went to a beer garden/burger joint in East Nashville that we loved. There's also a cool bowling alley/bar hipster thing downtown that was cool too.

Nashville is a cool town. Great vibe there. Way too many hipsters though.

Hour drive or so to Lynchburg, but the Jack Daniels distillery has a great tour of the facility.
