Former Saints DE Will Smith shot and killed
Apparent road rage
Police say Will Smith’s death appears to be a case of road rage Posted by Michael David Smith on April 10, 2016, 6:24 AM EDT Former Saints defensive end Will Smith was shot and killed on Saturday night in what police say appears to be a road rage incident. “It appears that it could possibly have been road rage,” New Orleans Police Officer Juan D. Barnes Sr. said. Smith was driving and his wife was in the passenger seat when their car was hit by a Hummer, causing Smith’s car to hit a third vehicle. “The male victim and the driver of the Hummer exchanged words at which time the driver of the Hummer produced a handgun and shot the male victim multiple times and his 34-year-old wife twice in the right leg,” police said in a statement. The 30-year-old Hummer driver is in police custody. Smith’s wife was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment for her leg injuries. They have two sons and a daughter. |

She was two lanes over and a car behind me at the next light so I couldn't see her plates. We also don't have front plates in AZ or I would have at least gotten that. I was turning right at that next light and as soon as she pulled the gun out I stomped it and immediate turned right on red. Glad no one was coming because I really didn't look. Pretty nerve racking. And I'm not a hot head by any means.

Yea. A lot of people just become a different person once they get behind the wheel.
in Texas we have he worlds worst drivers. I see stupid shit every single day. You just expect it. I don't get angry anymore. Just have learned to drive defensively and shrug it off. It's not worth getting angry.

Nope. Cordell still would've had his gun and did the same regardless of the law. And there is the crux. Who obeys and who doesn't. Citizens obey and criminals do not. Cordell is a criminal and proved it. Why take protection away from the citizens who obey???

I was driving into New Orleans in January, and there was a wreck on the highway. I got off and traveled on surface streets for the last few miles, in the same general area where the shooting was.
I pulled up to a stop at a stop light, and a few seconds later a car came up next to me. They slowed down, presumably looked for traffic and then just drove through the red light. It was astoundingly blatant. I went a few more blocks and had another red light. When it turned green I started to go, and to the right a car was coming. Despite having a red light, the guy looked at me entering the intersection and apparently decided that he could beat me. So he gunned it and blew through the intersection while I hit the brakes. I laid on the horn and then immediately realized that that was a bad idea. So I got the heck out of Dodge. That part of New Orleans appears to be populated by people who are too stupid or too criminal to live in society.

I assume Mr. Hayes feared for his life/safety.
