Do you use a custom advancedsettings.xml file? Have you applied the zero cache fix in a maintenance app or anything?

There are different caches in play here. Don't get them confused..
There's the Android FireOS app cache, which can be cleared via the FireOS main menu at System\Applications\Manage All Applications\ navigate to the app and click on it, and select the Clear Cache option. (Never select the Clear Data option) That only deals with the Android OS and it's app cache, and has nothing to do with the message you're getting during playback. There's also KODI's various cache folders. Many plugins and such will have their own cache folders to use for plugin updates and other functions. This is the type of cache that is cleared by maintenance apps like in your Youtube vid. But that's different than the cache full message you receive when playing a video. That's the third kind of cache, the video buffering cache only used during video playback. After playback is over this cache is cleared automatically. KODI will download enough of the video to ensure continuous playback before starting. It calculates the rate at which you're downloading, and knows how much of the video it needs to download, and that's how it gives you the little buffering percentage. By default you should very rarely see a message about the cache being full. But if you've installed what's called an advancedsettings.xml file, it changes the parameters of the video cache settings. Usually people use it incorrectly though, and it causes the cache full messages. That was why I ask if you'd installed a custom xml file or used a maintenance app that did.

the only problem with that is the limited space on the fire tv. an HD movie will completely fill your storage instead of ram when you do the zero cache fix.

I know, I'm wondering if he has the zero cache enabled and that's his problem. That happens frequently.

How's the connection with other stuff like Netflix, etc? Do you have a good network connection in general? And have you tried a variety of sources? Not all sources work the same, and you have to figure out which ones work for your location...

I think the settings you want for firetv are now:
cachebuffersize 34603008 But honestly, I think I got rid of everything except clean library after update. Kodi has really improved to the point where you really do not need to mess with it.

Do you happen to know what version of those plugins you're running? Sorry, but there's just not enough info to know what's happening. Can you get a log file by following these instructions: http://www.tvaddons.ag/posting-error-logs-kodi/ A log file will give a lot more info..
