Some unbelievable shows from the writeups I've seen and the concert I saw in Phoenix was incredible. My wife never went to concerts until we started dating. She said, "Wow, these guys sound just like they do on the CD!"
Pearl Jam played over 3 hours here and once 11 pm hit they kicked the lights on, as this is some law for large concert venues?! Eddie was pissed so they played two more long songs including Rockin' in the Free World. |

They've played what people consider some of their best setlists of their entire career. They had a 5 song acoustic set encore here that included some of their lesser known songs: Bee Girl, Future Days, Hard to Imagine, Footsteps and Around the Bend. First time playing Around the Bend in concert since 2006 and only about the 10th all time at a live show!
They followed that 5 song acoustic encore with Jeremy! |

They always turn the lights on for the final few numbers. Ed likes to see the crowd. They've done that for a long time now.

They've done it at every show I've attended since 2000 tour. This year at the Brooklyn show they did it for the last three songs. But Ed specifically asked for it. |

Just finished my 2nd listen to Lightning Bolt.
I still don't care for the "harder" tunes they want to go rock out on. Songs like "Mind Your Manners" sound like forced angry filler. "Lightning Bolt" sounds like mixing 10 and Vitalogy in a bowl and coming out with greatness. Divergences like "I'll Be Sleeping By Myself Tonight" seem like album filler. But filler that's quality. Pendulum might be the most rounded out song of the album. Reminds me of "Garden" in tone and guitar. I have to admit that after a 2nd listen I side with the pop fans for the most part. PJ is a better band when they put their finger on the vinyl and slow it just a bit...
