What Maclin tampering cost us.
After the NFL taking our picks, we lost:

1 2016 3rd rounder
1 2017 6th rounder

After Dorsey attempting to recoup some of that value, here is where we stand:

Our 2016 low 1st became a high 2nd.
Our 2016 low 3rd became a high 4th.
Our 2016 low 7th became a high 6th.
Our 2017 6th rounder's still gone.

To be fair, sitting on our hands in 2014 did net us four comp picks in 2015.

Comp picks are magical on here for some reason. What did we get for those?

I'm being objective here for some reason Dane is upset. Is this a playoff team? Yes. If we did a little better would it be a super bowl team? I think so.

We don't know yet. The picks have only played their rookie years. Assessing draft talent should take three years.

Both 2014 and 2016 were successful for their own reasons. 2014 gave us a clean cap and allowed us to make our deals in 2015 and 2016 that we otherwise wouldn't have made. It also netted us maximum compensatory picks.

2016 was successful in retaining some talent and bringing in Schwartz.

Going to have some tough decisions to make in 2017 with Fisher, Berry, and Poe. Yikes.

You think 1 of the 3 walks? 5th year option Fisher. His improvement after having a full off season was tremendous. Poe well you've seen how much a NT commands on the market he's an elite player. Berry is a special player but this defense didn't miss a beat without him.

Sadly, I do think one of the three walks.

I, too, imagine it will be Berry. I fully expect one of these 2nd rounders to be a safety (Von Bell?).

I'd like to keep all three but the cap room isn't there.

We have plenty of room to keep all 3 next year. The cap is going to go up another 10ish mil. It won't be a problem

Nah. Schwartz was a great pickup and I think Streater can be a decent slot WR. WR. Team is also a lot further along than 2014 and we need to see who we pick tomorrow.

If the Chiefs get a good starting G and defender tomorrow I'll be happy. They're gonna move back up into the 3rd rd IMO

Don't get me wrong Schwartz was a great pick up. Some of the holes are still the same since Dorsey took over. I'll give this draft 3 years before I judge but let's not pretend 2014 was kind of a bust.

True. I always thought you offer Berry Earl Thomas money and done deal. Maybe the cancer made things complicated? Or Berry's awesome 2015 season.

Why can't they tag Poe and 5th year Fisher?

No clue what's holding up Berry/Dorsey negotiations. Probably something completely standard like one side wanting more than the other wants to give.

Tagging Poe is going to cost something terrible. I want to say $15m, but do not quote me on that.

Which is fine. Then it gives us the ability to resign Jaye Howard 2 seasons from now and draft a replacement next year if we don't go for someone in this draft . We are going into 2017 sitting very, very well with the # of picks stockpiled.

Depending on Charles' impact this season, we could look to remove 9 mil off the books next year and retain Poe. Should have enough money to keep Fisher too.
