More 'Orioles Hangout' goodness

Why This Loss Hurts So Much
I completely disagree with those who say we had more talent than the Royals. In fact, I think we had the least amount of talent starting the playoffs than any other team in the AL. We had an offense missing 3 starters. There isn't another team in the AL that could have done more under these conditions. The reason it hurts so bad is that we lucked into the best matchup possible and our magic ran out. I was hoping beyond hope for more magic but was cognizant of the fact that our offense wasn't going to be able to score in Detroit, Oakland or Kansas City. We need more speed. We need more obp. We need more consistency.

The most painful thing about this is that our luck got transferred to a team that wasn't much better than us. Make no mistake, had we gotten their luck, we could have won. The answer is to get better because next year, we may find ourselves facing a team with a 200-250 million cap in the playoffs.

KC didn't swing for the hills.

WE did... every. Single. Time.

It was like clockwork.

Yost did the same thing pretty much every game. Grind out a couple of runs, swap in a few pinch runners in late innings and manage the bullpen properly.

And now they're going to the WS and we aren't.

MSK

We had plenty of opportunities, especially with bases loaded, to counteract the luck the classless royals displayed. For some reason following the first game loss we seemed to choke and lose belief in ourselves - which is maddening because that belief has won us so many games this year. It is a shame we didn't get the Angels as I think they were a better matchup for us and think we would be WS bound right now, but it wasn't to be.

I don't think the royals luck can continue, and think - and hope - it will be a procession for the NL winners.

Just gutted really. Such an immense opportunity now gone. And to think a few weeks ago many were talking up a possible beltway WS, and I was certain we would be there with or without the Nats.

Oh, and on another note - if the Os had reached the WS I would have won ?500 and if they won that, it would be ?2000 - so extra gutted to get this close and throw it away

I talked to a former Orioles and Royals player who said he would have fired Yost after the wild card game. Didn't matter that Kansas City came back to win it.

Has to be Mike Boddicker.

Probably and he should have been fired if they lost that game. He managed much better since then... so much that I have to wonder if someone else is making calls behind the scenes after the Ventura disaster. The moves are very un-Ned like.

What a bunch of BS......maybe all the "neutral" observers in his close circle of friends are making that comment, but he couldn't be further from the truth. Maybe in the hallowed halls of the elite they are whining about the Royals "lack of class" but the only people truly showing lack of class are the Orioles fans/supporters who have taken being sore losers to new heights.

And the "neutral observers" I listen to on the radio, run across at work, or converse with online seem to love the Royals and what they are achieving.

" I imagine that next year, some crap franchise will get hot at exactly the right time and go 12-0 and knock many more deserving franchises out of the race. The O's could win 110 next year, and end up losing to the Astros in the ALCS. I have no faith anymore that being a really good team actually matters. This KC team is a damn nightmare....makes me miss the Yankees"-Bitchmore

Not to be outdone by the O's fans, this turd-bird from SF weighs in on the ESPN write up after yesterday's game:

Richard Grace · Top Commenter · San Jose, California
Everybody loves KC and wants them to win, if you can believe the 'polls.' But the Koch Industries headquarters is in Wichita, and Kansas is a Tea Party dystopia thanks to their Koch-purchased Governor Brownback. This is what the Royals represent, people. Go SF!!!!!!!!

Is there a single Royals fan out there who believes that San Francisco is just "getting lucky" every time they beat us?

Because they're winning these games against us the way we won games against our opponents. I suppose these Bitchmore turds believe that San Francisco is winning their games entirely legitimately, but when we do it, it's just part of a "hot streak."

The term "luck" when used to describe a baseball series shows the low level understanding of the game of baseball by O's fans. You don't luck to a series win but sometimes that ball does go more your way. Call it luck or call it skill, that's baseball and baseball in unpredictable.

They have beaten us fair and square, no luck about it.
