It's an amazing phenomenon to me that fans will turn on a player faster if they feel he's asking for too much money than if he's a complete shit human being who asks for a fair salary.

I still like Albert. I want him to be a Chief. But at this point, it doesn't make sense. He's not seeing eye to eye with the Chiefs. They just drafted a guy at 1.1 to eventually be LT. Alberts gone one way or another and I prefer the Chiefs get the most they can in return.

And that's fine, but the vitriol against Albert is ****ing ridiculous. Yeah, he's asking for too much money, but now posters want to kick him to the curb and impugn his character in the process, acting like he's a bad teammate and some kind of amazingly selfish asshole when the Chiefs would cut his ass in a microsecond if they didn't feel his back was actually up to snuff.

If he's going to take $10M, and play wherever needed and be a good teammate, I'm good with that. Maybe it's the result of rampant speculation, but my impression was that he would not be okay with playing anything but LT, because it would lower his market value. Combine that with an already way out-of-whack self perception of his market value that means we can't even trade him, and it's pretty frustrating. At best he is a purely mercenary player for us now.

I had been pinning it on the Chiefs for not just getting him signed, but if the Dolphins are balking at his asking price too then Albert is out of his mind. The Dolphins want him more than any other team in the NFL.

Every player is a mercenary. Wake up.

I mean mercenary as in short-term, no future. Great if we are trying to make a run this year, but not the kind of thing you do on a team that is coming off a 2-14 season. There are better investments you can make.

This isn't some kind of back-breaking contract. Shit, the amount we'd pay Fisher and Albert over the next five years is probably the same amount Jake Long's ass got all by himself.**

**As a rookie.

Keep in mind, the Dolphins not only have to pay him, but have to compensate us as well.

If that's all it was, I think Dorsey is taking the #54 pick right now. Pretty sure they wouldn't even have been talking if that compensation price was too high for the Dolphins. Dorsey has to just want this to end.

Considering the Dolphins had all the leverage after trading away #42 last night, I'm betting they pulled 54 off the table.

They don't need Albert nearly as bad as Chiefs fans think they do. They have 9 picks left. They could easily (and should) use some of them to move up tonight to take Menelik Watson.

And the fans being those of a notoriously cheap franchise...

Denver rookie QB John Elway, on Jack Lambert, after Lambert and the Steelers knocked Elway out of his first game as a pro (1983).

We don't hate Albert. He's a good solid player. But I don't know how anyone can possibly make an argument that Albert deserves to be one of top 5 or 6 highest paid LT's in the NFL.

Again....if he keeps playing at a high level, as he has the last two years...you really don't give a shit what he's paid.

I'd rather use that money to make Justin Houston one of the higher paid pass rushers in the league.
