It's part of the point though. The offense is so good and versatile, they will elevate his game. You don't think Cassel throws for 3500?

Pretty sure that is what I said...largely the roster remained intact on the defensive side, minus the additions I mentioned + more. They have been a team with above average D talent for the last several years with Willis, Smith, etc. Wasn't trying to say they were the same team.

Oh, I don't agree. Gannon was pretty awful in 1998 and in 1997 he was surrounded with talent.

He wasn't the MVP until 2002 and that performance was short lived.

Lloyd, IMO, will definitely produce. He'll also open things up IMO. Agreed though that the rest of their receivers are journeymen.

It's a shame that some of you let your hate for Pioli cloud your enjoyment of this team at such a crucial juncture.

These kids we have been watching since the moment they put the red and gold on, and got to see develop right in front of us, are becoming men in this league and Growing into their own left and right.

If we can get just SOLID quarterback play (from whoever is playing the position) this team can beat almost any team in football.

Question:

When you guys watch the games, do you root for the team to win more or less than the time you waste on not agreeing with the way the team we have has been built?

It's hard to say.

If Baldwin is really as good as the koolaid servers would have us believe, then yes.

If not, then no.

These days I just kind of smile and nod.

If this team starts out on a poor pace again it will be more of the same. I can't focus my full attention on a game these days anyway so it's not the same.

And I feel pretty secure knowing it wouldn't be worth it, anyway.

You're right, he could. However, he was able to produce with McD the last 3 years, so I'll give him the benefit of the doubt. Additionally, he's a good route runner and is only 30 I believe, so he should still have enough speed to be a positive factor. Additionally, he's a significant upgrade over anything on the outside they've had since Randy. Their vertical/deep/sideline passing game has been horrible the last two years.

That's a sad way to be a fan man.

We love to over analyze and all that, but if you can't enjoy a game when it's on then whats the point.

Dude, 90% of his "hype" has come straight from fans, bloggers and media members on twitter. Actually, nothing said by anyone employed by the Chiefs has influenced my expectations for him this season.

I don't have the luxury of focusing exclusively on the Chiefs on Sunday anyway, so it is what it is.

It's comforting to know that I'm not really missing anything. And I feel confident that I'm not.

In the meantime I get a kick out of reviewing the games during the week and watching individuals perform at a high level.

We're not a team that has competed for shit in almost 10 years, now, so....it is what is. A man can only eat so much shit before he stops shoveling it into his maw as if it were caviar.

Just watched it last night after the replay. My thoughts:

Yes, Cassel was better than expected. I like the audibles.
Peyton Hillis and Dexter McCluster are set to have big seasons.
Defense looks top 5.
Our O-line was busting holes open for all the backs.
Hudson especially was pancaking guys.
MANERI! MANERI! MANERI! Caught the ball as well as ANY TE in the league. Go ahead and move him to 1st string.
Daboll can script some plays.
Cards suck.
