Family vacation

We were toying around with doing a driving trip to Myrtle Beach, SC but before we book I want to touch on another option with the CP travel nuts.

Driving to Orlando which surprisingly is only 1 hour further. It will be the hottest time of year unfortunately but I wanted to know about how much you can get done in one day at Universal Studios and Seaworld. The rest of the time would be Cocoa Beach or some other beach.

The entire family would be going so it will be a LONG 2 day road trip going there and getting back. We would also only have 5 full days to enjoy the stuff around us.

Opinions.

Update - We are booked for Orlando now so I'm only looking for suggestions close to there.

Agreed.

Also agree with Aquatics if you want a Water Park day.

I've been to Sea World and it was great. Never been to Bush Gardens. No way are you ever getting me to go stand in line for hours in this heat to ride a coaster. Been there done that. Bush Gardens is a huge "Disney" style park. This is not the level of your local Six Flags/Worlds of Fun park. I think I heard they have more people on a daily basis than some of the Disney/Universal parks. They have $100 million rides like the big boys in Orlando.

Kids love Bush Gardens though, right up through their teens...and sometimes older. They have those Halloween theme nights near Halloween.
Everyone dresses up. Heck I did that one year with a bunch of other adults but also brought the kids. It was a absolute blast!

I won't do that damn coaster though.

I've heard very good things about Bush Gardens. I don't think I remember anyone trashing the park.

We went to BG about a month ago. We didn't wait any longer than 20 min for any ride. And we got off Sheikra and went back in line 3 times in a row and still only waited 10 min each time. I've never encountered hour long lines at BG. But I'm also a heat freak so I don't mind standing in it all day. I work in it all day and standing in line is much easier than working lol.

Ive been to Orlando 3-4 times in the last decade.

Without a doubt, the best rides are at IOA-Universal (spiderman is still my favorite).

The 12-18 yr olds will love it.

If they're movie fans, do both (but as others have said, no way you'll pull off both in one day).

From my experience, unless you're going to stay more than a week, you have to choose: Will it be a disney vaca, or a Universal/Sea World, etc.

Disney's other parks are pretty darn good (Epcot, Animal Kingdom, and Disney Studios are all solid - and each can take up a whole day).
