Will this team win a playoff game?

Will the Chiefs win a playoff game? Or has the blueprint been written - run the ball and keep Mahomes off the field, sprinkled with deep shots against the horrible secondary.

Ravens 7-6 (won)
Broncos 6-7 (won, won)

Bengals 5-8 (won)
Jaguars 4-9 (won)
49ers 3-10 (won)
Cardinals 3-10 (won)
Raiders 3-10 (won)

It's pretty clear where we slot in with those teams. We are right alongside the Ravens and Steelers - better than the bad teams, but not in the group of the league's best teams. We don't really have an outlying win or loss, except maybe the first Chargers win.

We don't have a convincing win against a team with a winning record, either. You can look at the first Chargers game with all their unforced errors, the Ravens game where we needed a fourth down miracle to bail us out, or the Steelers game where Mahomes threw 6 touchdowns and played a perfect game and we still had to hold them off at the end.

Regardless of whether we draw a worse team in the divisional round and manage to get a win, this just really isn't a year where we can say we compare with the class of the league yet. If anything we've probably overachieved and should have two more losses or so.

It's not to say the franchise isn't headed in the right direction, but that reports we'd already arrived as Super Bowl contenders were greatly exaggerated.
Now do the same for the Chargers, Patriots, Steelers, Ravens, Texans, Rams & Saints and see how we fare. You may be surprised...

Patriots “best” wins are @Chicago (9-5) and vs Chiefs (11-3)
Chargers “best” wins are @Chiefs (11-3), @Seahawks (8-5) and @Steelers (7-5-1)
Saints “best” wins are vs Rams (11-2) and @Baltimore (7-6)
Texans haven’t beaten any noteworthy teams. They barely beat the Colts when the Colts when they were playing like shit

I voted no because the defense hasn't stopped anyone at crunch time. Maybe I'm just afraid to trust this team because I've been around for every one of the crushing defeats, bad bounces, bad calls, dumb coaching decisions, etc. Marty's teams suffered some really bad losses, many were self inflicted. Those teams were at least able to keep the penalties down.

The pass rush is the only thing good about the defense and teams can simply run and throw short passes to defeat that. The Chargers simply threw short passes and marched down the field the entire second and fourth quarters.

I don't believe in curses; we make our own luck by being in the right place at the right time. We get what we expect and if we let the fear of losing dictate what we do, then we will get what we expect.

Maybe not this year or even next year however, the old guard in the NFL will be moving on and the Chiefs are poised to be one of the teams the others are looking up to. Just want to find a few of those great third round picks for the defense.

We had two home games in six weeks and lost to the Patriots. What other team had 4 away games first 6 games?

If Reid lets Mahomes play 4 quarters, we can beat anyone.
If our D comes together with Berry, we can make a deep playoff run.

I don't have as much confidence in a deep playoff run. The team has gotten to a point where Mahomes has to carry it. That's a lot to ask from a QB this early. But I hope I'm wrong.

Exactly. I see that you understand my point.
But I'm not only talking about wins, I'm also talking about the schedules played by all of the contenders.

So would you say that the Chiefs have played the harder of the two? I would. Having to go to New England, in Prime Time, is no picnic.

We’re pretty easy to beat actually. Dink and dunk, run and run. Keep Mahomes off the field and put two defenders on Kelce. Hill is having drop issues no need to double cover that guy.

If we are so easy to beat how comes our record is 11-3, we've lost to all playoff teams and they were all close games?

I think the question should be, "can we win a Super Bowl"? And right now, the answer to that question is "no".

A Super Bowl is the only thing that cures all ills and wipes the stank of this shitty Buttons defense from our collective consciousness. It sets everything right and nicely wraps up a brilliant first starting season for our amazing young franchise QB.

That said, I'm going to be selfish and take the heat for it; I don't want a singular playoff win. If it's a choice between losing in the first round or winning in the first round and losing in the next, I'm taking the former option. And I'm doing this because it gives Reid absolutely NO leverage when it comes to Sutton. And as much as I'd love to see Pat get a shot at winning one this year, I'd much rather remove the weakest link from this team, re-tool, and get ready to go again.

Where I have zero confidence is that we can pull that off three straight games without the defense choking on its spit. Yeah. Winning a playoff game is nothing, shit teams make the playoffs every year.. surprised people even care about winning a playoff game anymore.

Seriously doubt they can win a SB this year, but it's obviously too early in Mahomes' career to really care.

For the first time in decades the mentality shouldn't be about making the playoffs or winning one ****ing playoff game... it's about being competitive deep into the playoffs every year, which is so much more likely now than it ever has been (but, probably not this year).

That's where Watkins helps so much. It's much more difficult to double Kelce if you have another dangerous weapon.
