The 2015 team didn't win 95 games by pulling wins out of the fire vs the Tigers bullpen. They flat out destroyed inferior teams at Kauffman (usually)
This team may be like the 2014 team, but we still don't have that caliber of bullpen |

On a positive note, how bout the performance from Hammel tonight? Dude balled out.
Now, if we only had a 5th starter . . . . . |

We will likely never, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever have a bullpen like that again. Three guys who all throw high 90s with sub 1.50 ERAs. There's just no way, no matter what you do. You'll have to find other ways to get it done. And you don't need a bullpen that great to win a title. It makes the games more stomach churning but it's just reality. Hopefully you enjoyed it when we had it. The Cubs won a title with basically Montgomery and Chapman out of the pen, and Chapman wasn't even that great. I would like to see us add a reliever though.

When the CP Phoenix crew meet up to watch the DBacks and Royals in the World Series, I'll buy you a beer while bringing up everything that's been said in these threads in the past month.

And why the hell would any fan 'enjoy' watching their beloved team lose and blow games they should win? I mean, if you're a sadist maybe? The Royals have lost more games than they've won this year. Outside of June, it hasn't been a very 'enjoyable' season so far. I'd like to see them recapture some of that 2014 magic, but this feels more like 2013 and unfortunately they don't even have the bullpen now they did then when they still came up short . . . . . |

I'd argue Cain, Hos, Moose and Perez are still better now than then. Whit and Boni are probably just as good or better than Infante/Aoki. Gordon and Esky have been mostly dead weight on offense, for sure, but they still both provide great defense. Moss has been terrible but his OPS is actually something like 25 points lower than Butler's that year. He can probably make up that difference easy if he'll wake up. |

And while I mostly do ignore them, it was even more pathetic tonight with everyone gathering the moment Herrera gave up the home run, like they were Tiger fans with no reason to post until they had a reason to rub it in. Yeah, it was certainly a frustrating moment (that I was fully expecting Soria to provide)... and if there's a frustrating moment, they'll wallow in it. Of all the shit teams from KC and surrounding areas over the years, I'll never understand why the vocal minority want to sit around and bitch about this team (2014- ). I guess if they take a few steps back next season, it'll be all the more losses to wallow in. |
