Would anything actually make you walk away from the Chiefs?

This will be a somewhat long read, so get some snacks and a drink.

I've been thinking about this lately for the first time in my life and have mentioned it in passing a couple times.

I've sat through them trading for backups from other teams my whole life (I'm 37) and always coming up short. I've driven 10-12 hours (round trip) at least 40 times, bought season tickets in 3 years, spent thousands going to training camp almost every year, spend at least an hour a day chatting about the team, probably dropped 8k on single game tickets everywhere in the Stadium from the worst seats in the house (for the 2003 Indy playoff game where that was all I could afford, but wasn't gonna miss it for anything) to literally the best seats in the house (club level fifth row, the first 4 rows are uncovered, the fifth row is the best...basically Julius Ceasar seats) , thousands on gas, thousands on hotels, bought the jersey of almost every first round pick of the team (until Tyson Jackson broke that streak) spent thousands on ST...you get the point.

I've been a loyal "true fan" for my whole life.

I guess I'm just not sure how much more gas is left in the tank.

Each time they have traded/signed a backup from somewhere else, they discredit themselves from being a team that truly wants to "win it all".

Deberg
Jaworski
Vlassic
Bono
Gannon
Montana (at his age health for a first rounder)
Grbac
Moon
Green
Huard
Croyle
Thigpen
Cassel
Orton
Palko
Quinn
Daniel
Smith

Let's get down to it.

The next name on that list needs to be a guy we select high in the draft and develop into the teams starter. I don't even care who it is. Cook, Hackenburg, Goff, Jones, Hogan, Brissett...don't care who they select...but they need to draft a premium QB prospect in the upcoming draft and develop him or I think I'm gonna walk away from the team until they get real about the most important position in pro sports.

They trade for another POS backup? They hand the keys over to Daniel? They sign some garbage "project they can coach up" QB? There are better things to do with my time/money.

The ONLY guy I'd be ok with signing would be Drew Brees and even then, I want them to draft a QB in the first 2 rounds to groom to be the future starter. Anything less is unacceptable.

Dalton
Bridgewater
Carr
Rodgers
Flacco
Wilson

All guys that weren't good enough for us to draft/develop? The Chiefs were dead wrong to think that and they need to roll the dice this time.

My question to you guys is this....have you had similar thoughts recently?

Most of us here love the sport and this team, specifically, and I'm wondering if I'm the only one thinking this...

Discuss.

Ouch. You really know how to cut a fan deep. Drop a STL comparison and I'm insta-depressed.

Haven't been to a game in three years. It can't be THAT bad can it?

Walk away, not likely, treat them like the 90's Royals, well, that could be closer than not. I think I've reached the point where I will DVR the game and just watch leisurely on Sunday while I do stuff around the house. There are just so many things about the way they play, and the way the rules are that just take the fun out of being a fan.

Not permanently. I will take the rest of the season off if they obviously are going nowhere. I took the Romeo era off and most of the Herm era. Not worth letting an inept team ruin your day.

Edward Jones Dome West?

Arrowhead isn't what it was in the 90's but good god can you put some negative extreme hyperbole on the Chiefs.

Wow

It's not just the Chiefs though. The NFL's product is going downhill and I think we all see it.

But if we were the best team in the NFL right now, nobody would be bitching about being the best representative of a shit product.

They were about to draft that QB two years ago and Cleveland jumped us because they knew Reid was going to get him. Afte that we drafted Murray. He's the QB we have been waiting for. Smith just needs to get out of his way.

Same as Bledsoe / Brady. If Bledsoe hadn't got hurt then Brady may have never been. Our franchise QB is already on the roster guys.

Today....Im content watching a stream on my computer. No lucky Chiefs gear....no beer...no snacks...no maniac cheering....always a little bit of cussing though.

It could change if the Chiefs got a QB though....
That's pretty much me, too.

I used to not be able to sit down during a game. I would literally spend almost all of my emotional energy during the course of the game to the point I would need to take a nap after the game. Literally.

I always had my game day gear ready the night before...id have food marinating the night before and I'd have 5-6 friends over to watch the games every Sunday. If I was staying home, I'd get up way early to get the grill fired up to start smoking and slow cooking ribs...or whatever the game menu entailed...Another 30 or so buddies of mine from my ballin days in other states would be texting throughout the game with smack talk and whatnot.

Now, I'm more of a family man and still watch the games with my son and daughter, but it's just not the same. There is very little emotion involved.

The Houston game gave me a little shot in the arm...but the Denver ending took the rest of the wind out of my sails.

I just can't get excited for games with Matt Cassel and Alex Smith level guys starting at QB for us.

I just can't.

They NEED to DRAFT a really talented QB to lead this franchise IF THEY WANT TO GET THAT EMOTION BACK.

That's the other thing - even if I get way more invested as a fan once again, I'll never let myself become that overly emotional fan that if they lose a hearbreaker it will ruin my next two or three days. So glad to let go of that silliness.

I took off to watch the games with my dad.

Afterwards we're both pissed off and the day pretty much ends.

I'm done taking off for the Chiefs (meaning I won't be watching.)

I've used most of my vac/comp for his condition and the extra was meant for us to enjoy on sunday. I'll be cancelling those sundays off...

Denver rookie QB John Elway, on Jack Lambert, after Lambert and the Steelers knocked Elway out of his first game as a pro (1983).

This is a bit off topic, but as I watching the Royals last night come from behind and win that huge game I was thinking "When was the last time we saw the Chiefs do that?" Whenever we're in a close contest and a score would win us the game in the closing moments I NEVER think they'll do it...and they never do. Can't remember the last time we pulled out a big game like the Royals did last night.

They have won some at the end of games, but since we have had 1 decent year in the playoffs in my lifetime, it is hard to compare.

Your posts are usually pretty stupid, but you have this right.

Yes, see what Daniel/Murray has.... and if they aren't improving game by game, then they need gone. You should be able to tell pretty quick using the eye test whether or not a QB is a gamer or a complete ****ing pussy like Huard/Cassel/AlexSmith.

Last year the Royals won more playoff games than the Chiefs have in their entire history.

That says it all...
