Broncos @ Chiefs

Now that the games are settled from week 7, these are the only stats that provide me with some glimmer of home for something exciting as I prepare for what is likely going to be strong loss on the road.

There are a number of things wrong with the Denver offense and while it's a road game, at least this doesn't appear to be the Chiefs' defense from years past. Anything can happen and while I'm certainly not expecting it, it's the only glimmer of hope.

Kelce and Hill are the keys. Denver has played well against RBs this season, so while Hunt will have his moments, it's the other two that concern me. Hill and Kelce lit them up for big plays last season and Denver's defense has often given up big days to good TEs in recent years.

No matter how much Denver's offense sucks, this is a game their defense really has to contain and exploit the offense.

Chiefs have played defenses that rank in total yards given up as follows: 32, 26 (L), 20, 13, 12, 11 and 2 (L).

Defensive Stats

Total Yards Allowed
DEN (1st) 258.5
KC (29th) 396.3

1st Downs Allowed
DEN (1) 14.3
KC (30) 23.7

3rd Down %

DEN (1) 26%
KC (17) 40%

Total Passing Allowed
DEN (6) 186.7 --- 11 TDs allowed / 4 INT (avg 31 pass attempts against per game)
KC (28) 271.7 --- 13 TDs allowed / 5 INT (avg 36 pass attempts against per game)

Total Rushing Allowed
DEN (2) 71.8 (avg 23 rush attempts against per game) – 0 Rushing TDs allowed (1st)
KC (25) 124.6 (avg 26 rush attempts against per game) – 6 Rushing TDs allowed (25th)

Again, I'm not predicting a win, I think Denver loses by 13-17 based on the way they've played coming out of the bye week. Losing Sanders and a few others, they've lost focus of what went well on offense early on.

I know - the majority of those here will point to home games, and that's fine. All I'm saying is that if the defense holds up their end of the bargain, then McManus needs to figure out why he's not so hot kicking the ball right now.

Ok, flame away... I don't know if you can call it a trap game for KC since both teams are on 0-2 losing streaks, but I'll take whatever I can get.

Blackop --- is there a reason as to why the league would conspire against KC @ home this week? If so, please let us know, that would be encouraging news.

This pretty much sums up my opinion. The refs pretty much left the division games free of questionable calls last year. NFL.com had Oakland rated as the #2 in the AFC all off-season and ignored the Chiefs.

A Raider/Chargers win on Sunday coupled with a Chiefs loss would make the entire division a game apart. Oakland has a few prime time games left...and the season ends with 3 out of 4 divisional games.

It's in the NFL's best interest, financially, for KC to lose on Monday. If they are willing to give a team 4 plays after time has expired to ensure parity...then I dont have much confidence in any game no matter who is better.

KC should win by 10...but they should have won by 10 last Thursday too. If both the Raiders/Chargers lose on Sunday, I wouldn't be surprised to see Denver bounce back.

Ask Jets fans about they feel about the officials...

On paper, KC stomps them them without Sanders playing...

I don't see our O getting going this week. Sutton may not rush Houston early but he will probably send his back up Safety on late blitz's to confuse and force our young QB into a ton of mistakes. I expect Trevor to have at least one INT, probably 2 and a fumble, Derpy will make a huge catch then fumble it. If VJ remembers he has Charles on the team he will probably fumble it at least once and mCAnus will miss a couple easy FG's.

D will fold after being on the field all game. I guess with both teams on a 2 game skid anything can happen in an Any Given Sunday league but don't see Denver having a chance on the road. Maybe if it were in the "Pile High Air".

Best thing the chef's do is not turn the ball over and our O has had a ton of them the last couple weeks. Short fields for kc all night.

I reserve the right to hold out hope that the run game gets going and everything breaks the right way but I think our 1st time HC is a couple weeks behind on his game prep after taking the bye completely off.

Would be nice to see if Ray and Butt can play this week. We could use more OLB depth though Ray playing the run is scary against Hunt. Would be nice to see Butt contribute and turn into a reliable 3rd down security blanket. Then I have to remind myself what our QB play has been of late.

If the NFL was truly in a conspiracy to rig the league for parity why did it take 30 years for parity to come to the fore. They must suck at implementing their conspiracy's.

Some Broncos fans are saying that the Chiefs D will look like the 85 Bears after this game. They must not know who our D coordinator is

The Broncos showed no heart in the last 2 games and the offense is a hot mess. Location is the great equalizer here and the defense should be able to keep the Broncos quiet. I'm holding out hope for an upset, but I'm not expecting it by any means. If Sanders were healthy, I'd say it's on... but, couple his injury with the OL issues and the fact they haven't tried to establish a consistent cadence on the ground since week 3 and I'm just not optimistic at all.

I don't create many threads because of the silliness with the PA thing. So, take it however you like.

Our defense is playing really bad right now but their offense is playing just as bad recently. They've scored 20-pts in the last 3-gms and against the Bills they scored just 16.

This is a good opportunity for our defense to get back on track. Hopefully they step up.

A terrible offense vs a terrible defense. This will either be really high scoring or a 6-3 type of game

Well, KC sits at 21st with 28 and Denver at 24th with 26 (in one less game) for number of punts total this year. Maybe both teams will jump into the high teens.

And nobody in their right mind never thought Denver would lose to an 0-5 Giants team with practice squad WRs and a duct taped o-line, with the No.1 defense at home.

Anything can happen.
