Alex needs to fetch Sam Bradford value at the very LEAST in order for this to be worth it for us. This is a very important season for Mahomes' future, and it's awfully nice to have Alex around to facilitate it.

Alex's value is higher than it's ever been, and that's considering he's a 33-year old QB. I don't think the price we'd need to fetch is what teams would pay.

So, no. No deal.

Deal him after the 2017 season, absolutely. But not before.

Only thing I'd add is, excepting a 'dolphin rape' trade situation, trading to the Jags is bad ju-ju. They're too close to competing for a playoff spot [outside QB] for my liking.

That would be tough revenge to endure.

Trade him before the draft next year to a team that needs a QB but doesn't have a top 10 pick.

The real problem with it is.. let's say you trade Smith. What happens to the KC season if Mahomes gets injured for significant time? Season over. Keep both, and you have 2 strong (allegedly) options that can keep KC relevant in 2017. One more year... then it's all the Mahomes show, for better or worse.

biggest reason not to trade. i assume most have seen bray enough over the last five years, to know he's not even a 'suitable' replacement, even short term.

the Bills are looking to trade anyone on their team approaching 30 years old or over. They are not trading for a 33 year old QB. They are tanking for their picks.

Only realistic options is the Jags currently (if they want to save their season before it begins and compete for the division) and whatever the heck the Jets are doing.

Might have to wait for another starter to drop to injury.
