***The Official 2014 Gardening Thread***

So what is everyone planting this year? Trying anything new or different? I've already got potatoes in the ground and I'm trying an herb garden this year. I've started cilantro, oregano, and basil in planter pots from seed and will transfer to a 55 gallon drum cut in half length wise and laid on its side with drain holes.

Overall I'm going with tomatoes, green beans, peppers(jalapeño/bell), broccoli, lettuce, and the aforementioned potatoes.

If you do use it, make sure to water it in to prevent burning.
21 is how high the plant will grow 7 is the strength of the root and 14 is the amount of plants. So this looks good for grass but not like trees or shit with roots.

Got garden tilled 2x, then used the Troy Built bedding attachment and bedded 8 beds 50' long. Planted 100 yellow onion sets, 100 red onion sets, and since its working good, I planted lettuce, cabbage seed, brussels sprout seed, cabbage seed, and collards. Its been years since I had conditions like this to work up the garden and get a head start.

Since I can seem to grow herbs in the yard, trying big giant containers. Thyme, parsley, basil, oregano, and lemongrass planted. Next year, we're going to replace some of the front ornamental bushes with rosemary.

Sounds great!

I had a bumper crop garden last year for my little garden. Cilantro, lettuce, cabbage, tomatoes, potatoes, cantelope, strawberries, radishes, bell peppers and probably forgetting something. I had 18 tomato plants started from seeds, about a dozen too many.

This year we are about ready to start eating lettuce, strawberries and radishes. Cilantro, Garlic and Cabbage are up. Put in 8 cauliflower plants, 8 tomatoes and 4 bell pepper, jalapeno.

Next year we are going to put in a couple raised beds and we'll probably do some tomatoes, garlic, a couple squash, and melon. I may try my hand at some carrots, too.

Cool! We have really no choice but raised beds here on Tablerock. The soil, when the rocks are removed turns white as concrete when it is dry. My SIL said it is perfect for fig trees and they have done well.

I made a mistake last fall that I need some help with. I removed 9 large cedar trees and rented a wood chipper to dispose of the limbs. Perfect mulch, but the decaying process has robbed our soil of nitrogen.

What is the best product to use on the garden and flower beds? I appreciate any help in advance!

Ill be eating radishes, kale, lettuce, arugala, swiss chard, and spinach in about a week. Planting green beans tomorrow or Tuesday weather permitting. Not really garden related but same vien in a sense, I added a few new chickens into my flock and am getting between 6-8 eggs a day now. Finishing up my rabbit hutch and will be addi g meat rabbits in the next few weeks as well. 2 females and 1 male rabbit have the potential to povide 180 pounds of meat a year. Im pretty excited for it.
