He was the first overall pick in the draft. Not a late first rounder, the first pick. Sold to us by the front office as the best player in the draft.

Yes, if we are talking about the 1.1,he is miles away from living up to the draft position and I don't think he will be even close. But you made a comment that the way he's played, he won't be in the league by 25. Not only do I think he will be in this league, he will probably earn a job as a starter. But not if the req is that he has to play like a top 5 pick to earn his job. That's silly.

Right now, I am not evaluating him based on draft position. I am evaluating him like the 19th highest paid left tackle. I don't see why he couldn't live up to that this year.
I guess it fits your agenda to judge him as "the 19th highest paid left tackle" as it makes it seem that he hasn't been a massive disappointment I guess.

But he was the 1.1 pick. And he has been maybe a replacement level player at LT thru, yes, 2 irrelevant preseason games.

But ****, enough with the excuses. Last year it was "he's at RT, it's a new position, learning curve".

At some point, it's time to sack up and either play up the level you were billed at, or yeah, be called out as being a big sack of shit.

This. It's one thing to see if Junior Hemmingway can turn into a legit player by his third season, but the first overall pick in a draft should be pushing for All-Pro status by his third year, not "seeing if he will pan out".

How many times do I have to repeat that it was a shitty pick and that he will never live up to a 1.1 pick?

I am commenting on your statement that he may not be in the league by 25. Do you really think the chiefs will tell him if he plays like a starter but doesn't play like a top 5 pick? That's silly. All I care about is if he can eventually play like an average starter. I don't care about the pick because nobody will ever convince me we made the right pick.

If he continues to play the way he has so far at LT, he very well could go the way of Robert Gallery, or worse, and be out of the league in a few years.

Fisher has been terrible so far. Joe Staley, OT for SF, was drafted in the first round out of Central Michigan (same school as Fisher) the same year D. Bowe was drafted and looked pretty bad his first couple of years. I remember wanting to draft Staley instead of Bowe then watched him play for a couple of years thinking thank God we didn't draft Staley. In time he's turned into a decent OT. I'm hoping Fisher can develop like Staley but I'm not going to hold my breath.

It is his second preseason game at left tackle.

The problem is we are talking about what it takes to stay in the league and you keep acting like the only way he stays in the league is to play like a top 5 pick which I doubt he will. He can still play in this league if he plays like an average starter. That is a low bar and I don't see why he can't hit that pretty easily if we give him a few games at the very least.

He hasn't been an average starter though, thats the point. He's maybe been a replacement level LT.

I will say this though, Fisher gets alot of blame on sacks that, yes his man does make, but come in situations where he's done what he's supposed to and pushed him up field, but for one reason or another, our QB can't/won't step up into the pocket.

Some of these it just looks like they have no idea who they're supposed to block.

I've noticed that alot this preseason. Guys seem to get overpowered or jsut beat, but it seems like they're always guessing at who they're supposed to block.

It's particularly glaring in the second gif, look at how he dips and offers little to no resistance with his left arm/shoulder.

Thats not because of his shoulder. It's because he gets his weight out over his toes and has shitty balance.
