See I knew I was missing something. I'll have to watch that again. Now that makes sense because he says she lives a very scheduled life, arriving at 10am every Thursday or whatever the hell it was. So he was there before she got there and he knows where she always sits and he planted the ricin packet (i guess snipping a corner of it dumping it in there and her not noticing it) at her table.

Besides, his redemption doesn't come through death, it comes from killing the Aryan Brotherhood and freeing Jesse. He secures his family's safety and saves Jesse in that act. His death occurs because his story is over. He's legally and physically out of time.

Hank doesn't get what he deserves. Neither do Brock, Jane, Donald Margolis, Mike, Jesse, Andrea, and numerous other characters. Why would you think Walt would get his proper moral due?

The Stevia packet doesn't have to be opened completely. What's the first thing people do when they grab a sugar packet? Rip the top off. If someone pokes a hole the size of a 20 gauge needle in the upper corner, you're not going to notice it.

Which is what I find disappointing. Breaking Bad was incredible at developing complex characters, and it's because you sensed that Gilligan liked Walt but also made it clear that he wasn't necessarily a character that is easy to root for.

Which is why I find it offputting for Walt to go on a full episode of redemption, without being triggered by some kind of major event. Jesse killing Todd... THAT was redemption. Walt going on a killing spree is basically tying up loose ends for the shit that he created. Gilligan had a chance to allow Walt to redeem himself while still giving him something to emotionally stew on. But he didn't. It came off to me as fairly insincere attempt at redeeming a character. It was a fun episode to watch, but way too vanilla given some of the amazing stuff Breaking Bad has given us.
