Made NFL 2nd Team All Pro.

I don't know how I feel about that. I think he played well in the second half of the season after a more rocky first half. I guess I don't know what I expected.

He was a solid, unspectacular contributor who's name I rarely mentioned in the second half. I also think he has some deficiencies in the run game and doesn't quite have the '**** you buddy' mentality I'd like to see.

But it's hard to say he didn't do his job and do it well this year. Pretty nice signing.

I believe he was fighting an ankle injury most of the early season. He appears to be past it now though.

He's good enough to say we no longer have a hole at RT.

He's not the stud he was made out to be though.

I see the situation as Dorsey finding the best possible FA option to fill a massive hole on the right side of the line. Like others have already stated, he played hurt like the vast majority of players do. He's played respectable so far despite an ankle injury and adjusting to a different scheme and teammates. If we can maintain the core starters for a few seasons, these guys will gell and play as one cohesive unit. I feel the right side of the line's biggest need is continued development of LDT at RG.

Schwartz has done a damn good job, factoring in the level of competition he faced all year.

I just don't understand why our run blocking is poor.

Spend most of our practice on all the dink/dunk/cute plays and not on straight run blocking?

Same system as last year and yet run-blocking was the thing we did consistently well.

Some regression from Morse hasn't helped. LDT seems like he's better than he was last season there's just not been much to demonstrate it.

I still think Ware just doesn't look like the same guy he did last year. He's getting brought down by the first guy that hits him a LOT. The leg drive just isn't there.

The running game is a mystery to me.

Doesn't that mean that Ware was making the Oline look better last year by breaking tackles?

Doesn't really mean that the Oline was actually better last year.

Oh I agree; I'm saying I think it's a little of column A and a little of column B.

I think the OL has taken a step back and Ware's done the same, making it look all the worse. I think breaking tackles here and there or falling forward to get another yard or two is part of a running back's job. If an RB is only getting what's blocked, that's not impressive at all. Ware didn't 'help the OL' by busting through arm tackles as much as he simply did his job.

I wonder if we aren't giving Allen the credit as a run-blocker he deserves. Allen is a big dude and he was fairly aggressive as a converted G. Maybe we're just missing some of that size/meanness over at RT even though Schwartz is a better player.

He gave up 1 sack in 5 games against Joey Bosa, Von Miller and Khalil Mack.

I think people are talking run blocking as much as anything.

but yea, if you take a look around at what the people on the outside think about our Oline i'm seeing a general trend.

Schwartz is our best lineman
Morse has regressed to solid
Fisher has improved to solid
The rest are JAGs

The unit overall is average, better at pass blocking than run blocking.

Yup.

I'd say it's a pretty strong pass-blocking team with spotty run-blocking, especially on the interior. The stretch plays still seem to work with some regularity but running inside the tackles has proven extremely difficult for them all season.

It's nice to at least have a foundation that you can work with, though. For several years it's seemed like the OL has just been a general dumpster fire and the answer to it was 'Jesus, just get better'. Now they're to credible and you can focus on specific issues.

That's a pretty major step.

It's a top 10 unit in pass pro from what the boxscore and game footage shows. It seems like we struggle mightily running up the middle compared to outside

We seem to have switch from an outside running game to an inside running game.

If that is going to continue then we are going to have to improve our interior Oline.

Guards mostly but i don't know if there is a stud center in the draft whether Morse can slide to guard or not. Ideally we just need to grab a couple of stud power guards so that we can continue to slam it up inside. I think that helps our bubble screens and slants to Kelce.

Running it up the middle has helped our passing game and we should continue that type of run game. JMO
