I record it every night and watch bits and pieces of maybe half of the episodes. On a personal level, I really like Fallon, and I like seeing him succeed. As for the show as a whole, he's definitely taking the "Everything is Awesome!!" approach, though, which makes it feel a bit shallow.

I personally miss Craig Ferguson, but he wasn't near as good near the end either.

I thought he was horrible on most of SNL.. His show now?? The guy kills it.. Him and Conan are neck and neck to me even though they are different... Guy is super talented..

By the way, Carson did a lot of really goofy stuff early on. When we judge Carson as a host we are judging him over a substantial stretch of time. Give the dorky new kid a chance. He's funny.

I don't watch the show itself but I added it to my FaceBook feed. I see clips now and then. I've really enjoyed a lot of stuff that Fallon has done. I agree, the guy is talented. And the guests seem to be having a blast with him. Not much to complain about really.

Agree with all of this. For those saying he should be more edgy (the linked article for example)....that's not his thing. He does what he knows, and does it well. If you want edgy, there's plenty of options out there, and they do it better than Fallon would.

Fallon's the ultimate entertainer, but the "everything is awesome" shtick wears me down. He's not a remotely genuine person on screen, just a series of fun skits and silly games until the viewer is vomiting rainbows. That's fine if that's your thing, but I'm going to prefer Colbert injecting a more scrutable soul into his show. Just my preference.

That said, he's surrounded himself with great talent. Higgins and his writers and the Roots are all masters of their craft.

I just prefer watching a human being with actual emotions rather than a Japanese gameshow-caliber sunshine parade.
