So just to recap for anyone who missed it -- Waters missed OTAs and mandatory minicamp, but BB stated those were excused. Then he was missing when training camp started, which was unusual. BB was, as usual, very evasive. Ultimately, he was put on the did not report / reserve list, and his number, 54, was given to rookie Dont'a Hightower. It came out that apparently he was looking for either a raise or to be traded, or both. Rumor was that he'd be willing to play for the Texans, the team closest to where he lives, I guess. The Patriots let it slip (unusual for them), that they'd be willing to bump up his salary from the $2.5MM he was scheduled to make to $4.0MM, and thought that woudl do the trick, but he still never showed. Rumor was he was hoping to be released so he could play, but fat chance of that. Let me be clear -- he was REALLY GOOD in 2011. Played extremely well. Far beyond our hopes, honestly, for a guy that age who was thought to be on the decline. Patriots fans were very disappointed. Pats have now released him. There's also this: Quote:

If you're Belichick, I guess you win games with 22 players off the street.

I'm more interested in developing tomorrow's line than signing an aging vet. I'd be alright with it if they just didn't think they had anyone who could play the position this year, but I doubt that that's the case.

I loved Willie Roaf as a left tackle, but I would not hire him to decorate my home:

Jesus, I'd be afraid to touch anything in that house for fear of getting it even the slightest bit dirty. |

I also find it notable that he has all those helmets on the bookshelf in his office, with the Chiefs on the top shelf, and I don't see a Saints helmet at all. I'm thinking he's still not very happy with New Orleans.

Ray Lewis' house has more style, though what's the deal with those dining room chairs? And the ceiling would make me think that I'm living in a big beehive. However, a grand piano always looks good, and he's got some nice views.

He needs a big laundry room for getting blood stains out. And yeah, those elephants do cause consternation.

In that case we would trade Flowers for him.
