This depends entirely on when. If Alex gets hurt in the first month, go with Bray. If he gets hurt in the last month, you might as well roll with Mahomes.

Smiff will step up his game now and play just good enough to be the Cheaps QB for the next 5 years

Andy Reid loves him a passing attack game and that's something Alex Smith just does not provide. He doesn't get the job done. Patrick is polar opposite of Alex Smith he can pass deep and make all the throws from tough situations. Andy at some point will decide that his love for a passing attack is greater than his liking for Alex Smith. All he is going use Alex Smith for is to buy time for Patrick Mahomes II to get his NFL bearings and learn the system. The system however is going play into how Mahomes plays. His ability to pass downfield is going be too much temptation Andy Reid won't be able keep the kid on the sidelines not at all past this season. That's why I think Patrick Mahomes II will be starting sooner than later his skill set and smarts warrant him opportunities to play this year. |

If Reid thinks Mahomes is ready, I can see him being 2nd in line.
This is the advantage of having a coach who isn't out there trying to save his job though. If Reid thinks PMII isn't ready, he isn't going to rush him out there to buy Reid more time as coach. |

I didn't realize Bray is a free agent next year. I wonder if we will keep him to back up Mahomes? If we currently Smith it may not be bad to being in an experienced backup. Would be nice to have at least one qb on the team with some experience. Not Matt Cassel

PMII will play more like McNabb/Rodgers. Favre had Holmgren drinking pepto bismol straight from the bottle when he freelanced and threw "Rocket Balls" across his body to the other side of the field.

Depends on when for me.
Before Week 8: Bray After Week 8: Mahomes I think you have to give the kid training camp and half a season of just learning that play book, learning NFL coverages, and learning to drop from center before you just trot him out there. If Smith got hurt early, I'd put Bray in, pray a little, and put Mahomes in when I felt he could do the above. |

You put Bray in. Hell he has been on the team for 4 years - if he hasn't developed by now he never will.

He was a real life Uncle Rico in the early days, capatulted in the starting lineup by starter injury. Glanville said he showed up still drunk from Saturday night half of the Sundays in his rookie season.
