Derek Jeter has so many playoff and clutch at bats that he actually has a statistically significant sample. It's crazy. He has enough of those at bats to make up a whole season. So that's not just a myth. His clutch hitting was as good in those situations as any other situation. His average, # of HRs, everything… is practically the same. That is just astonishing.

But as a pure hitter, power hitters who hit for average like Albert Belle, Pujols, ARod… he can't compare. Boggs and Tony Gwynn were completely nightmares to pitch to. So everyone is right in saying as a hitter, he was hall of fan worthy, but we've seen better. From a clutch standpoint, he absolutely earns it.

Look, Jeter is overrated. Everyone knows that. (Outside of Yankee homers). But he certainly deserves the attention he's gotten tonight and he's been nothing short of the ultimate professional. He's a class act and a great ballplayer. I still ****ing hate the guy! But he is a breath of fresh ****ing air in comparison to a lot of today's athletes and I do hate to see legends leave. Makes me feel old.
