Don't take a Ball Bat to a Gun fight....
Authorities: Intruder was fatally shot trying to break into Missouri home

BELGRADE, Mo. - A man suspected of trying to break into a rural home in eastern Missouri is dead after being shot by a resident. The shooting happened Wednesday afternoon in this small town south of Potosi.

Capt. Zach Jacobsen of the Washington County Sheriff's Department says an elderly resident saw a truck pull up close to the home, then heard burglars kicking or hitting the door.

Jacobsen says the elderly man got a pistol. As the door began to open, he fired a single shot that struck one burglar in the head, killing him. Police are searching for two other burglars who fled.

Jacobsen says officers found a baseball bat near the dead burglar's body, and he was wearing gloves.
