If we draft Geno Smith to be our guy then I wouldn't have much of a problem with having Mike Vick as back up, but also don't want the drama that he tends to have. He has come a long way to turn himself around that is fine. I don't want a young QB to have to worry about being benched if he ****s up though.
Lol taking a rookie over Vick is ludicrous. Who's to say that Geno will be the next Rg3 or Andrew Luck?In my opinion this years draft class is nowhere as good as the last. Lets say you take a chance on Geno and he's not the answer, then youre back in the same boat as you started with no qb and another losing season. Atleast you know Vick can win games. Also as long as ive known Andy he has never let a rookie start a season. Mcnabb didnt do it,neither did Foles.

Andy is the type of coach that will let the rookie sit and learn unless his starter is just screwing up badly where he has no choice. The only reason Foles got to start was because Vick got hurt and Andy was worried about the beating he was taking and knew that he and Vick would be gone at the end of the season anyways,so why risk Vicks health when he knew that theyd probably be on another team together.

30 ****ing years with out drafting a ****ing quarterback in the first round of the draft.

I don't give a ****. Take a chance on the kid give him the opportunity to succeed or fail. Give him the opportunity so we can find out. The risk isn't much with the rookie pay scale. Not much risk at all.

My read this past week is he's going after a QB in that spot Tattoo. No worries at all. It may be Geno, it may not be Geno though. He will look at tape on twenty guys. He will narrow the field to three or four, evaluate them at Senior Bowl (if applicable), personal interviews, the Combine, and private workouts. He will even bring them in to meet other team members but not tip his hand publicly one iota. You will get your QB. It may or may not be the one everyone wants, but it will be the "right guy" who he feels will work best in his system, be a good leader, be a coachable player, and fit all of the following: clean criminal and work ethic history, good student, tall enough to see downfield, strong enough arm to throw the out and the deep ball, sees the whole field, makes good decisions. The ironic thing is the video everyone keeps posting about Geno Smith - all I see there is a QB heaving a deep ball into triple coverage and getting bailed out by his WR actually making the catch. Hope that's not the video Andy is looking at.

What's most impressive about that play was his willingness to attempt that throw from the endzone. Reminds me very much of the Eli to Manningham connection against the Patsies in the SB. NFL caliber WR's should make that catch if the DB doesn't make a great play on it.

Just give me a confident, smart QB.

People blasted Geno for his antics at Yankee stadium. I just saw a guy that was pissed at his performance and knew he could do better. That's what you have to see from a competitor, not this head hanging dbag that jumps into a mosh pit after a TD and the crowd separates as he crashes to the ground BS.

(and someone already called me out for Vick not having a clean criminal record, I know...but that was a special case where the signing was low risk / low cost, the talent was high, and the individual had matured and paid his societal debt).

That ball couldn't have been placed much better imo, damn skippy that ball should've been caught, especially by NFL talent receivers.

NFL secondary talent decapitates the WR and intercepts that ball.

And then the INT is called back for a Personal Foul of hitting a defenseless receiver.

NFL secondary gets flagged for bogus penalty for hitting a defenseless receiver and offense gets a 1st down.

Agree. Rob, you might see a guy who just "heaves up the deepball", but more often than not, the ball is out in front of that receiver, where generally only he can catch it, and in stride.

As far as the antics are concerned, apparently we passed on Marino b/c at his workout for the Chiefs, he didn't throw well and was cussing himself into a frenzy. I just hope the Chiefs don't confuse passion with character concerns.

I didn't hire a guy for an engineering job once because when I was giving him a tour of our facility, we got to the gym and he started getting into it with the heavy bag, letting out just a bit too much job search frustration. First impressions. I didn't want to be the heavy bag and the standing Chiefs GM probably didn't want the rest of the offense getting cussed at because Marino was having a bad day.

As a Reid fan from Philly, I agree that he doesn't necessarily mean it when he says "He's a heckuva..." Doesn't mean he's saying he's good. Doesn't mean he's saying he's bad. He's just not throwing the guy under the bus either way. That's what he does. His focus is on his players, not on delivering sound bytes to the media. The up side to that is that his players love playing for him, knowing that he won't throw them under the bus.
