They weren't good players. Luckily Allen is going to compete at RT, where we need more competition (I'm not predicting Sherrod to do jack or shit for us). Asamoah... well, **** Asamoah. He's a worthless piece of crap. |

You, my friend, are just in denial, trying to justify not using picks for the line.

I think Fisher can improve this offseason to where he's not a liability.
If your lineup is Fisher (improved) - Grubbs - Kush - Fanaika/Fulton/Allen - Allen/Stephenson, then the only question mark on that line is Kush. The rest of the guys are adequate. Different from last year we he had bad play at LG and RT, and inconsistent play at RG. Not to mention below average play at LT. At least we get rid of the liabilities. Our OL could be every bit as good as the OL we had to close the 2013 season, when the offense was doing pretty well. Not something to brag about, but it's a big upgrade over 2014. |

In any case, I think you're just forgetting how awful Allen was his rookie year simply because the following season he played 15 games and his suck had a larger sample size. I'm not trying to justify avoiding picks on the line at all. From the very beginning of the offseason, I said, "If the Chiefs see a RT in the 1st round that they KNOW can lock down the position, then go for it." I personally think La'el Collins is that guy, and if he's drafted at 18 by us, I would be mostly satisfied with that pick. I reject the idea that we NEED more RGs as competition when we spent a bunch of money on Fanaika (regardless of your opinion on him, the contract is a done deal and that has to be respected when making the final camp cutdown list). Fulton was starting to get better as well. We won't have the best RG in the NFL next year, or probably even a top 15 RG, but we don't need one. |

Kinda beating a dead horse, but I think improving the weapons and specifically, improving the qb play will improve the ol.

Something to remember:
The Chiefs spent the money on Fanaika. In the millions. They're not cutting him even if he does get outplayed by Fulton, LDT, and one or two other guys in training camp. It would be easy to say, "Well, yeah, obviously you gotta draft another guard at some point this year" if it weren't for Fanaika on the roster. Since he's here, then you're down to jettisoning either LDT or Fulton if you draft another guard in less than two weeks. That may not seem like a big deal, but the entire point of taking those late round guys is to give them MORE than just a single year to get their shit together. The team pretty much knows they're not going to be ready to go when they draft them, so then what's the point of drafting late round guys like that at all if the team is just going to say, "Too many unknowns at OL. We're gonna keep drafting OL until some rookie solidifies his spot from Day One, and even then it might be a fluke." If Fulton or LDT can't hack it, then yeah, get rid of them, but there isn't a very likely chance that a midround guy we draft is going to dramatically outplay what we have to make that determination. Why is it important that we draft a guard at all? We've got guards. Tons of them. Weed them out and try to find one. Don't add more to the "unknown" pile. That's not how you build a line. |

I'm just against the idea that guard is an important need that has to get addressed. We have 10 picks. There's bound to be an interior lineman in one of those picks. |

This would be a fantastic move....you have to believe Reid and Co. are already on it. I'll take a proven 24 year old ILB with NFL experience over a rookie with a learning curve. KC is going to use a pick on this position anyways...at least they would know what they are getting.
