Got Mom to stop smoking
Got her to go on CHANTIX and it's working so far.

It's been a 2/3 months and her breathing seems to be improving.

Oxygen level now stays above 90% without any oxygen help.

Before it would rarely go above 90 while on oxygen

I'm over 30d with not smoking. That shit got out of control for me. Aided by nicotine gum and water, water, water.

Give her some Musinex to clear up all the mucus she surely has. Cleared mine up in one day. Vics works to open up the lungs and clean them out faster.

Every day I don't smoke makes me feel like a million bucks.

I'm smoke free from February 8 2013 and I never want to take another drag off a cigarette again. **** that I like to be able to breath even though with COPD it sucks at times and I have to do freaking breathing treatments but I hate doing them so I go without doing them then it's hard on me again.


eDave stay strong don't give in you will only thank yourself later for quitting.


I went on a 6 month ice cream binge after I quit. I ate ice cream by the tubs a day. I couldn't get enough ice cream but at least I quit smoking and things taste much better without smoke breath.

I smoked for 22 years. Quit on my 35th birthday 16 years ago. The hardest thing I ever did (cold turkey). I carried around 7 copies of a report from the American cancer society on the top 100 positive effects to your body over a 10 year period after you quit smoking. Every time I had the urge I'd read that. I had way too much invested in my retirement to spend it horizontally.

Last week I got sick and I thought it was the end of me. Coughing created migraine from hell that lasted two and half days. Horrible. I'm doing better now but it was a reminder I have to keep up with my breathing treatments or my chest feels like it will explode. I felt like an elephant did a belly flop on my chest. That's what COPD feels like to me. I'm not even old that old but I have to keep myself healthy or it will take me before I know it.

Chantix works great for quitting. Unfortunately it doesn't do anything as far as staying quit. Best of luck to her though.
