If Davis learns to return punts then he would make teams for special teams only. Although i don't imagine Davis would be very happy about that. I wonder if Davis asked to be traded.

Why the **** would you do that though? We're already wasting a roster spot on DAT. We have no need to waste a roster spot on Davis....just so he can return kicks.

Tangent question -

If we don't trade DAT, are we going to keep him or give him the boot?

Your team is NOT too good for Knile Davis. Given Elway couldn't identify RB talent if it crawled up his ass, you guys can do a LOT worse than Knile Davis

we keep Hammond for special teams only.

I think they are probably looking to get rid of both DaT and Davis.

By process of elimination, we can guess the talks are centered around Knile Davis, who was already reported to be on the block. Jamaal Charles is recovering from a torn ACL, while Charcandrick West and Spencer Ware were just signed to extensions. The Dolphins are absolutely desperate to bolster a running back corps that's currently led by second-year durability question mark Jay Ajayi. Davis has occasionally flashed during his three years in Kansas City, but disappointed more often than not. He owns a wheezing 3.34 career YPC. His addition would not preclude Miami from aggressively addressing running back in the draft. We doubt Davis fetches more than a conditional seventh round pick.

Do they have a safety or DB that we could trade for of any quality?

You think a guy who was originally a 3rd round pick, in the last year of his rookie contract, who has one of the worst YPC in the NFL and has battled fumbling issues his entire career is going to get a 5th?

Dorsey is a good GM, but he's not Midas.

He kinda is, though.

Dude has shown he is a straight up baller.

Claimed a OL (can't remember the name) of waivers from SEATTLE.

Then, trades the linemen to Tampa for Kelcie McCray.

Then trades Kelcie McCray to SEATTLE for a 5th round pick.

That's the NFL equivalent of spinning straw into gold.

I was thinking tin, but the point remains.

The overwhelming majority of 5th round picks contribute absolutely nothing to the average NFL team. If you could give up a 5th to get a platoon RB and plus kick returner, it seems like a pretty good use of a 5th.

But I'm talking late 5th here and that's probably not what we'd get from the 'fins because they don't have one. That 6th rounder will almost certainly yield them less production than Davis would.

good stuff, ware is a #1 quality back if last year wasn't a fluke, west is a #2...dorsey found them both in the bargain bin

getting a 6th for davis would be great, but if we're dealing with miami dare to dream...
