That was definitely a case of Ford being completely fooled on a play though, he starts to run one way and then realizes that everyone else is running in the opposite direction, forcing him to turn around.

He is lost on 10 plays for every good play he makes. Maybe he will be good in a few years, but as of now he is just a wasted 1st round draft pick, who may have been available in the 2nd

After watching this thing for god knows how long, I've got it figured out, and it took rewinding the DVR to truly get a grasp on it.

Dee Ford, for whatever reason, doesn't know Gore has the ball, looks back at Kaep on his rollout after the handoff, locks on to him flips around and then shortly realizes that he's ball-less, and flips back around.

Watch it more and more, and you'll see exactly what I mean.

However, what scares me ever so slightly is the fact that his entire team is heading the same direction, with the offensive line moving UP THE FIELD, and he flips around. Granted, that shit happens in the blink of an eye, but you're not going to have a PAP where the linemen are 3-4 yards up the field blocking people.

This goes as a mark against either his Awareness as a whole, or his utter lack of run game skill. I'm hoping we can chalk this down to his issues with the run game, though he hasn't done all that bad the last few games, but awareness, to me, is the scariest concern, if there is one.

However, I have a slight suspicion that on that particular play, and designed for this specific game, that almost every play Ford saw today, he was in charge of spying on the QB for containment. I'll rewatch the game this week to confirm/deny it, but I'm willing to bet quite a bit on Ford's snaps beeing pass rush/spy only in this game, which explains why he didn't play the run fully and allowed Gore 4-6 extra yards.

Idk how you can play organized sports for 10+ years and have absolutely no clue how to follow the general flow of a given play.

That's bad.

Like I said, Ford looked lost out there during the pre-season. He looks even worse on this particular play because he could have stopped Gore well short of the first.

But likely didn't want to break his commitment to SPY, which tells me either they are overloading his mental capacity for the game, or he's just uncomfortable out there playing a half ass ILB and situational rusher.

Why the **** would you have Dee Ford spying on the QB? That's the stupidest football thought I ever heard whether it's you or Sutton that thought it up.

I don't understand what the hell I'm seeing here. I've watched it over and over and over, and I can't come up with anything as to WTF he is doing. He actually throws a block for Gore.
