To claim that Geno Smith is just a hair shy of Stafford's standing as a prospect is misguided. I desperately want us to draft the guy, but I'm not going to blind myself that drafting Smith is legitimately a reach. |

He isn't a reach. He's a better prospect than Sam Bradford and Matt Ryan. |

If he's the 3rd best prospect in the last 5 years (behind only Luck and RG3) there should be tons of teams and tons of talk about teams moving up for him.

KC said they are open to talks about trading down. If Smith is one of the best prospects in years then there will be talk because all of those other QB hungry teams would want to get out the word that they tried or are trying to land him.

Geno Smith has never been extremely impressive. He's very up and down, which hopefully our coaches could correct. He has extremely impressive tools, and he seems like a good guy, but his on the field product is much, much worse than Stafford's was, and against weaker defenses. Edit: It's also worth noting that Geno was playing with multiple NFL caliber receivers. Tavon Austin is probably a first rounder. To my knowledge, Stafford did not have that. |
