Losing Hudson would be a problem with the development of the line, but if someone is going to break the bank on him I can see why we wouldn't break the bank to keep him, especially with Kush, who has to be ready to step up. If someone over pays Hudson, we are looking at another high conpensatory pick in 2016. While I don't like it, things could be worse.
If we lose Hudson, I think we better go Oline in the 1st round, and we better sign a quality OG in free agency. Kush only scares me because he's an unknown, I actually think he could be a very good center. |

Promote Kush, but also draft a C/G tweener for depth and to potentially challenge him as the starter.
If the Chiefs can get someone like L'ael Collins in the 1st, I think that's overwhelmingly going to be their best bet. I've evolved a lot on my view of the RT situation this offseason, and it's mostly because I think Collins is going to be fantastic in the NFL. If they go a different direction, I think they should start Allen at RT, bring in a cheap free agent like Mike Pollak who won't cost much more than league veteran minimum while also being a legitimate established player unlike McGlynn or Linkenbach. Then the Chiefs would need to draft another guy for depth, I'd say. LT- Fisher LG- Allen C- Kush RG- Fulton RT- Collins or some other high round rookie who doesn't suck Depth: LDT, cheap vet G/C, mid/late round rookie swing tackle or Stephenson The problem is there is so much variability. Allen is a meh LG, and he's probably just as meh as a RT, but he'd probably be good enough. With someone like that, you want to determine your needs and then pencil him in. Well, that depends on who's available at RT in the draft, whether Stephenson gets his shit together or not, and possibly if LDT surpasses expectations. Kush is also a huge question mark, so you gotta get insurance in case he's not very good, but then that affects where you plug in the depth guys elsewhere. In any case, we don't need to throw that much money or draft stock at the problem. We only need one high round OL guy or a couple mid/late round guys. It's not like we need to draft multiple new starters or anything. |

Sadly, I really don't see how the Chiefs can re-sign Hudson. The cap situation is just too bad. Draft Flowers in the 1st to start at RT, draft John Miller in the 3rd to start at RG, and pick up Max Garcia or Dillon Day in the 5th comp to play center. That's a lot of rookies but those are physically dominant players who can provide big running lanes for your backs, which is the focal point of your offense. LT: Fisher LG: Allen or best veteran guard on roster C: Garcia (or Day if Garcia is gone) RG: Miller RT: Flowers You can probably still get ILB Stephone Anthony in the 2nd, WR Justin Hardy in the 3rd/comp, 5T Henry Anderson in the 4th, NT Joey Mbu in the 5th, S Adrian Amos in the 5th/comp, WR Cam Worthy for the red zone in the 6th, and a couple picks left for the 7th. Maybe a couple pass rush candidates in Rasco and Wagenmann. JMSuggestion. Last edited by CleveSteve; 03-03-2015 at 10:05 AM.. |

If they aren't going to sign Hudson though.....then I go out and sign Clint Boling to fill in at LG. I bring Herremans in on a 1-2 year deal to play RG and I start Allen at RT. Draft an OG/OT in the 3rd.
Fisher - Boling - Kush - Herremans - Allen |

This starting line up is scary! Who is our best lineman, Fisher? That's a very risky starting group, and I love Flowers at RT.
With the loss of Hudson, we may have to replace all 5 starters in a few years. |

Is Kush any good? This draft is not strong at C.

Kush will probably be fine. What we need is a cheap veteran G/C as insurance-- that's it. Going OL with our two of our picks in the first three rounds is overkill and frankly, irresponsible given the other needs on this roster. |

Yes, three rookies is very risky. I do think that all of those three guys are top 3 at their position in this draft, though. I just don't see a much better option for you guys. There's no money to upgrade and the guys on the team just aren't very good (hence the thread). It would be tough while the guys got up to speed, but the good news is all these guys have the power to go straight ahead while getting up to speed on the nuances of the playbook.

Our best hope is to surround Kush with veteran OGs that aren't going to **** up every other play.

It's just one of those things where the Chiefs obviously draft to invest and find out what they have in players. They have one awful hole to fill, and that's LG, and technically they already have somebody they're probably comfortable with to fill that spot.
RT is a question mark given Stephenson's unprecedented dropoff in play last year, but we've seen him play well enough to be a starting RT in the past. But we probably can't trust him, so we're looking at probably finding a new starter if Allen is going to stay at LG. We don't need someone like John Miller, and if we do, it's a waste of resources to draft him and then bench Fulton. Keep in mind, they also have LDT in the wings as depth and someone who can play multiple positions. |

We could just get Goodell to re-do our schedule so that we play the San Diego Chargers 16 times. That would do the trick.
