Colts Release RT Gosder Cherilus
Was a big disappointment for what they paid, and was not good in Pass Protection.

That said, wouldn't mind a cheap deal for camp purposes, in the event he wants to fight for a spot.

While the line as a whole ranks thirteenth with an 80.0 Pass Blocking Efficiency (PBE), neither right tackle Gosder Cherilus (-8.9), center Jonotthan Harrison (-8.8), nor right guard Hugh Thornton (-7.3) have graded well in pass protection. The form of Cherilus is a particular concern since he is exposed on the edge of the line. That could be seen on the first snap of last week’s game when Redskins’ outside linebacker Ryan Kerrigan immediately beat Cherilus off the edge for a strip-sack. Getting embarrassed by Kerrigan (fourth-best Pass Rushing Productivity rating among 3-4 OLBs) happens to plenty of tackles, but Cherilus has struggled all season.

Although Cherilus missed Week 12 with a shoulder injury, he has still allowed five sacks and 12 QB hits, giving Cherilus a 94.1 PBE, which ranks 42nd out of 57 tackles. The Colts signed Cherilus on the back of his career best performance with the Lions in 2012, when he allowed just four sacks and seven QB hits, for a 96.6 PBE, tenth-best among tackles that season. The Colts could do with him returning to that sort of form at the business end of the season.

Which is great for us and every other AFC team (for the time being) bc we would be ****ed if the colts had a great GM to go with Luck. Hell, even an above average one would solidify a few championships for them.

I think he turned in a good season the final year he was with Detroit. Still not good enough for the dumb contract he got from Indy though.
