Any speculation out there on when the reschedule of this game would be?

This rain forecast sucks.
Cold and rainy isn't great for ANYONE playing baseball (Unless you're a power sinkerball pitcher). It sucks for power hitters (ball doesn't carry) It sucks for baserunners (hard to grip/get good jumps/run fast) It sucks for fielders (ball comes up wet/slick, especially in the outfield, and sometimes muddy, the wetness/slickness significantly reduces your range) The only areas where this could MAYBE help the Royals is that if you're putting a lot of balls in play, the fielders have more difficult chances on plays that make them move.

I don't think it's worked out too well since teams went to 5-man rotations.

They would knock out the travel day and play it Sunday afternoon.

If this game is rained out, our pitching options for a potential game 5 on Wednesday will become sketchy. We could try pitching BGJ on 4 days rest.

I just read something I didn't know (and I'm not sure if it's true), that if tonight's game is rained out, the clubs may make changes to the roster before Saturday's game. I could see someone adding a pitcher, if 5 games in a row are the result of the rain.

Another alternative: Go into this evening planning to use Shields for as long as you can. If he can get you through 6 IP, uninterrupted, awesome. If not, based on his pitch count (let's say he pitches 4 innings and is at 55 pitches), consider bringing him back as the starter for Game 3 (which would line him up to pitch a Game 7 on normal rest) or possibly Game 4 (which could still line him up to pitch Game 7 on 3-days rest) if the pitch count goes a little higher. The nice thing is that Baltimore doesn't have as good a rotation (seriously, the Royals are better across the board, at each spot) as KC and would be in the same boat in terms of it screwing up their plans.

Well, whatever they do with the rotation, they better get to work on it. I highly doubt there's baseball tonight.

Another difference in rain rules during the playoffs, MLB decides if the game is postponed.
Normally the home team gets to decide if the game is postponed before the game starts, and the umpires decide after the game starts. In the playoffs, the umpires can stop play if they feel its unsafe, but they then have to stay at the stadium and wait for MLB to decide what to do. Only MLB can postpone a playoff game.
