The highest paid backup QBs in the NFL make around $3-4 million according to a quick Google search. Of course, that was in 2014.

Put me down for trying to get Josh McCown.

Bray has been with the Chiefs for what, 4 or 5 years now? In all that time it seems that he has not improved much if at all. He is garbage and should be gone the first day of free agency.

Someone that can execute a handoff that doesn't result in a touchdown for the opposing team is a start

I'm going to go on record and say I want no part of paying a veteran a significant chunk to be the backup. Doing that defeats the purpose of having your starting QB on the cheap right now.

The backup should not make more than Mahomes.

With you 100% on this, particularly the last sentence... that would be a terrible look

Backup QB is literally the last thing I'm worried about anyway

Okay, then tell me how much will Mahomes make?

Roughly $4M.

$3.7M actually in 2018, but more than that as the years go by.

I get your point BUT what did Foles sign for in Philly ? I really don't know but Pederson was wise to bring him in because he could hit the ground running with ability to perform well. Granted it was rocky in the beginning but now with his chemistry finally in sync and the rust knocked off, we saw the Foles of old against the best D in the NFL. Now with that being said, sure Daniels would know the offense coming in but he ain't no Foles either. Just saying that when your team is that close to going to the SB it would be wise to have a quality b/u QB that could still keep the train running and still win. I don't think Daniels beats the Falcons or Vikings not even close.

Ryan Fitzpatrick for my money- was fairly inexpensive last season (1 year deal for 3,000,000) and I thought he performed decent for a backup in the games Jameis Winston missed.

With Alex gone, it'll be an interesting three-way battle for the starting job between Bray, Mahomes, and whoever else they bring in. I bet Mahomes is the early favorite despite the fact that Bray has more tenure.

(Let me know if you'd like me to affirm that this post is in jest.)

Guys, in my opinion, the following Free Agents are not going to come to KC where the team is determined to start the Mahomes era:
Bradford, Keenum, Bridgewater, Tyrod Taylor, McCown, EJ Manuel, Geno Smith. These players still want to COMPETE to be a Number 1 Quarterback.

The ship has already sailed as a starter for the following Free Agents and they are more likely to be a supportive #2 QB , be a good team guy and support the growth of Mahomomes:
Daniel, Kapernick, Fitzpatrick, Blaine Gabbert, Mark Sanchez

I also like Drew Stanton and Matt Moore but not sure which category above they fit into the most.
